Hondata Launch Control & Full Throttle Shift
i read and re-read and watched the videos on the hondata website, trying to figure it out what exactly these features do. the launch control im still dead confused. i understand its for launching in drag, but what exactly does it do? and as for full throttle shift, i udnerstand you can shift w/o releasing the clutch, and therefore maintain boost press. between shift, but how does it work? it seems like a really good feature to knock off some time at the tracks. extra $200 worth it? thanks ahead of time.

Ok real quick.....
Launch Control
This is a clutch activated REV limit. When your car is stationary and your foot is on the clutch the RPM limit is lowered.
Full throttle shift
When the car is moving and your foot is on the clutch, the rev limit is dropped about 2000 RPM. A typical clutch activated RPM limit might be 6100 RPM which corresponds to the average amount the RPM drop on an 8200 RPM gearshift. So that means you can shift without ever letting off the gas not the clutch.

Instead of modulating the throttle to stay at your launch RPM, you just turn this on and mash the throttle to the floor.

lets say you are about to race at a track... left foot all the way in on the clutch, right foot all the way on the gas.... but guess what... the car only revs to whatever you set the launch control at. soon as you let go of the clutch, your "launching" rev limit will be lifted so you can accelerate forward. this allows for more consistent launches... because all you have to do is be consistent with your reaction time.

i will note... that i full-throttle shift already... but not anymore after the turbo got installed. and the launch control... can be had with ignition, the msd ignition has staged rev limiters as well. just giving you a headsup on all the options out there.

oh, hmm. howcome you dont full-throttle shift so much anymore w/ turbos, and how much does the msd go for? i figured the full-throttle would knock off some serious time at the tracks. does it?

Re: Hondata Launch Control & Full Throttle Shift (ceemarun)
well... when you are full throttle... and miss-shift... you will hit the rev limiter... several times over... the stock rev-limiter is fuel cut. fuel cut is real bad for forced induction. whether full throttle shift cuts times or not.. its really debatable... but i think the answer is: yes. as for the msd ignition, those prices vary. msd has dozens of ignition systems and dozens of accessories... so go price shopping and find out what parts there are. they can do stuff like automatic-rpm-activated nitrous etc.
