Default Hondata/ Datalogging Option.

Does anyone know if you have to purchase the data logging otption if you already have the software needed to tune? Or does that option make the box have the serial port.

yeah, I am really not interested in datalogging. I just want to be able to tune it on my own, and I don't want to pay for datalogging if it's just going to be a set it and forget it setup.

I jsut went through this tuesday so I am speaking from experience.
I have a S200 w/boost option. Wanted datalogging. Went to my local dealer. Gave them $200, they called hondata, gave them my seriel # and they inturn gave them the pass code to unlock datalogging. No chip, no send it off. Its already there. Just need the specific code for you blue box to unlock it.

Then download the software from there site to run it.

Sweet so If I need to have it tuned without using the Dataloggin option, I can just buy the 200b and not pay the extra 200... Thanks B18..

Well for my wife's car I purchased the datalogging option. When it was tuned we did not use it... So in turn it was $200 down the drain. But the site says you have to purchase that option if your going to tune it yourself.?? I am working on my car now, and I am trying to decide to go with Hondata or not... It has a couple of flaws and it's not cheap as everyone makes it out to be, however it does work well I guess if you can deal with the lack of support..

Its cheap if your not gonna tune it your self. If you have the basic S200 w/boost, when you take your car to a Hondata dealer to have it tuned, they will run there blue box in the car for the dyno session. When done, they will return your blue box to your car. The box is what holds the key to the ability to tune and options.

The passcodes are specific to the seriel number of your Hondata. No master code. Took about 45 minutes for Hondata to call back with the code.

I like havin the dataolg option, nice to see what your engines doing, what weather does to temps, good as a diagnostic tool. When g2turbo and I bought our hondatas we split the datalog cost and just swap boxes when we need to.
