Hondata Datalogger + Mac?
I've been planning out my summer modding schedule, which will hopefully include finally getting a turbo kit. One thing I want to do is getting Hondata right off the bat (probably get it before the turbo too).
I had wanted to get the datalogger, but my laptop is a Mac and it is not logical to bring my desktop in the car with me for logging.
I know the datalogger users a serial connection and Macs use USB, but I've already taken care of that by finding a serial to USB adapter. I'm curious whether there is any interest in a Mac datalogging program. It would be a good summer project for myself and it would only do the little display and saving probably. Just curious if people want/need such a thing, and if Hondata would give me any of the specs of how it communicates.
(Doesn't someone from Hondata read here?)

Yes we do read Ken, when we are not sleeping or working. You could try phoning us as well. If you want to write a program, we can give you the specs. Virtual PC and the Keyspan USB connector will also work. I have used it on my ibook.

whoa yaaai! I've been on the hunt for a cheapo pc laptop for my datalogging (I've been borrowing a friends). I've got a Titanium G4 Powerbook that will look so beautiful on my seat. I forgot about virtual pc.
gotta give it a try!

I have a powerbook and have done some datalogging using VirtualPC and a USB/Serial adapter. Unfortunately, i also have the parallel pocket programmer (shoulda done more research and bought the serial one) and as far as i can tell, there is no way whatsoever to get that to work on a mac...

Since a Mac version of stuff would probably take more time, I wouldn't be able to toy with that until school is out.
One thing I am toying with right now is a CompactFlash logger. Thought this up last night. People could have the output from there datalogger saved right onto a CompactFlash card and then plug it in to their computer when they're done to check it out. Damn am I bored.

if the virtual pc doesnt work, you can find a cheap used laptop on ebay. Some small computer shops may have used laptops too. I got a P166 for 200 bucks.
