It says you use and recomend AEM EMS. Can you hook it up with one of those, how much and please give me alot of info. Some people say it sucks, I dont wanna belive them tho I want the EMS. Tell me more please
I think the EMS is an amazing piece of work. It is a true standalone that you can plug into the stock harness. A true standalone can do things that an adapted ECU cannot. All of its inputs and outputs are controllable by the software which is infinitely upgradeable.
The way I understand it is, you have a bunch of inputs for sensors and outputs for injectors, ignition, etc.; you can link any number of inputs to these outputs and I believe there are even some outputs which you can program to do what you wish with as well. Bottom line is, as things progress and you want to develop your car into a race car (it's inevitable lol) the EMS has the capability through software to run your car any way you see fit. You can run any sensor you want, GM, Honda, Toyota, etc.. You can run any ignition you want, stock, wasted spark (coil type, i.e. Mitsubishi, Tec 3 style). You can run two stages of injectors, you can datalog anything you want internally (no laptop needed, only to retrieve the information the the EMS stores) The list goes on and on.
This is the meaning of a true standalone, it can be programmed to run anything, the way you want it to run, period.
Now I know that you and I may not be smart enough to figure all of these things out, but even if someone else does, all you need are the values or programming language and you can take advantage of any little thing they can think of.
The list of things in development for the systems grows and already includes, rev limiters, traction control, anti-lag, etc..
AEM is not charging for any of the software upgrades either.
Not meaning to take away from other systems. Doug at Hondata is making great things happen and providing lots of "free information" which is a rare thing these days.
I got the opportunity to work with him at the Salt Flats on the 204 MPH Civic and he is a great guy.
If you want a system that is easy to start and tune, Hondata is my recommendation.
If you want a system that is infinite in its capabilities, the AEM is my recommendation.
