Default honda fire

Had a pretty bad engine fire today, stayed in the engine compartment but damaged: both front tires, all wiring, distributor melted, all hose clamps for IC piping, filter off turbo (so probably the turbo as well?), intercooler, fluidyne radiator, fans, all hoses and electrical connections, c/f hood GONE, front bumper GONE, headlights MELTED, intercooler GONE,

then i suppose u have to put in the water damage from the fire dept as well?
recaros, hondata, laptop, romulator, wideband 02,

block and tranny still probably good..., intake manifold woudl be needed as well as a wiring harness... i have full coverage... any comments? suggestions? i just got this thing running and now its gone.

So... anyone know of any hatches for sale? my newly finished honda went up in smoke today... i'll post pics later.

have you found the cause of the fire?

please keep us up to date on how that goes. did you have extra converage added to your account? after talking with my insurance agent, i was basically told that even if i had 20k$ invested in my 92 hatch, for a 'total loss' i would get a check for the NADA value (which is about 3k$).

So... should I remove and sell my AEM FPR now? This is just one more "failed diaphram" story and it's getting me scared.

dude this kind of thing happen to me before too. my engine compartment once caught on fire because i was breaking in my new motor and i ran the turbo oil feed line but i used a rubber hose and a screw to block it off and the hose gave out and got oil on my radiator fan and that caught on fire when i was test driving it. Me and my friend had to try to stop the fire with whatever water we had in the car and using our tshirts to hit it out. In the end my whole radiator fan was gone and i had to re-do some of my wiring harness and i had to clean the engine compartment cuz it was hella black from the smoke. Damn firefighter got there when we got the fire out already.

your insurance might pic up some of it. remember stock parts are alot more$$$$$ so you can money for the stock parts that gave into the fire and just turn around and buy the **** you need to fix it.

your only have to buy it back if they deside to total it

no pics only update.

talked to insurance... said i had a few minor things on the car like the c/f hood and some bucket seats... they arent going to miss the turbo manifold or anything though...

they said they were going to consider the parts in the price of the car...

so do i hand them my 40k in receipts? or buy it back and settle for my eg?

I thought it was illegal to use "oil feed line", "rubber hose" and "screw" in the same sentence....
anyway, it's a good thing you were able to put an oil fire out with water. that could have been a bad scene.

has anybody ever made some kinda of fire prevention system, like some nozzles by the strut towers and maybe on the hood that, either shoots co2 foam or water? Would be a very interesting project. Extrapoints if its automatic.

BTY 'dont worry, be happy!' (you could have been part of the list for damage)

Just think, a little ricer APC extinguisher could have saved the car......sad to hear about your car man, but consider it a lesson learned and always carry fire suppression equipment, especially in a modded car.

I smoked my brother's beater the other day too, luckly we only had $100 into the whole car...

Sucks to hear that, I know of 4 other cars that had bad fire problems (1 a fiero - MELTED in half!) that could have been suppresessed by an extinguisher.

I can't remember where I saw it, but it was a civic/crx with 2-3 nozzles in the enginebay & 1 over driver for a fire supression system. safety =
