Emission is overrated... j/k

Well since its a bitch trying to pass emissions and i know i have no chance in passing as well as MOST of the people on here, might as well do something useful with the stupid can.

i dont understand why you would want to have the breather on it. it just makes it open atmosphere.

thats not a catch can, this is a catch can

btw that home depot high pressure hose WILL collapse under heat if its more than a few inches.

i put a vent on it so the pressure will have some where to excape. i figured if it didnt have a place to vent, then there's gonna be too much pressure and it could push the oil/vapors some where i dont want it to end up.

TO properly do this you should make it closed loop. Simply done, just attach a line from where your breather filter is going over to the intake side of the turbo---the only place where constant vaccum will be one a turbo car.

This is a great mod, I cant wait to start on it.

Also another idea. Goto Home Depot and get a petcock and tap it into the bottom so that you can drain that sucker!</TD></TR></TABLE>

I just wanted to straighten something out right quick. I have a catch can that has 2 fittings on it. Do i just get a Y connector and route the 2 hoses come from the Valve Cover and the other one going from the engine block to the top of the intake manifold and route those two lines to on side of the catch can and then just route the other fitting of the catch can to the intake side of the turbo? Then just plug up the top of the intake manifold?

Just wondering if its OK to do it this way.

Almost every catch can pic I can remember used that kind of line... What would be better? Fuel line?

Hydraulic line. It's dirt cheap at any hose supplier. Looks just like black rubber hose, but is oil resistant.

It's really not that complicated. Just use the everyday 3/8" PCV hose from any auto parts store. It's the same stuff that came from the factory for that very specific purpose.

but with the vent on, there is no vacuum to help evacuate the crankcase, so its the same as just plugging the im, removing the pcv and letting the crankcase vent to the atmosphere. what you can do is put the breather on another pcv valve that is backwards, so under vacuum the manifold pcv valve is open and helps to suck the crankcase vapor with the breather pcv closed, while under boost its open so the crankcase can vent at the same time the manifold pcv is closed.

I think this is where all this catch can confusion begins. Basically, there are two types of setup, open loop or close loop and close loop being the factory method which routes the crankcase vapor back to the IM utilizing the PCV valve. Open loop simply allows crankcase pressure to escape to the atomosphere. According to the original post, TurboDANDEE uses the open loop method which requires the removal of the PCV valve. Both methods would work. It all depends on which one works better for your particular setup.

thats what im saying, with an open loop why even bother. well unless youre a tree hugger or abiding by track rules.. do they say it needs to be baffled?

Clear polypropylene braided hose and clear silicone braided hose look exactly the same, until you apply heat. The poly stuff melts, but the silicone wont. Or if you don't need the bling hose look, you could listen to what these other guy suggested.

I think that will be fine for what your using them for I had it for the custom overfill tank for my radiator. I think it just cant handle that. I think its fine for your application.
