Home Made Catchcan
Well, im broke so i decided to make my own catchcan while keeping the OEM look. I used the emission filter can on the firewall since i cant pass emissions anyways. First thing i did was cut it open to remove all the charcoal inside and cleaned it up, i found out that it was already baffled so it was a good thing. Drilled 2 holes for the fittings, added a filter on the baffled part, plugged up one vacuum port and glued the bottom back on. I got rid of my PCV system and made it into open loop, just had the black box behind the block, valve cover breather and gas tank ventilation all routed back into the catchcan. well i hope my pics work, enjoy!

Nice! I like. Are there any downsides to doing this mod such as gas mileage or whatnot? Im in MI, no emission testing or anything

Gas mileage should be better since the oil vapors arent being burned anymore. I dont see any performance downside to this mod at all, unless someone can point it out for me?

Im about to do this on my car. Im going to be using the A/C dryer--i looked inside one of the bolt holes the other day and its baffled at the bottom.
TO properly do this you should make it closed loop. Simply done, just attach a line from where your breather filter is going over to the intake side of the turbo---the only place where constant vaccum will be one a turbo car.
This is a great mod, I cant wait to start on it.
Also another idea. Goto Home Depot and get a petcock and tap it into the bottom so that you can drain that sucker!

Re: (93LSivic)
be careful using an a/c dryer, they have a pouch in them that is filled with a substance that resembles sand. not good for a cooling system.

Re: Home Made Catchcan (Pritos)
I made one using the a/c dryer. I cut it open and removed the sand bag, inserted a bunch steel wool for the oil to cling to. Tapped a bolt into the bottom for periodic draing and welded the sucker back together. Looks pretty cool since it is made of aluminum.
