(for the link lazy)
seriously tho, look at the bottom, NO DOT< OR SAE aprroval.
this is nothing more than a chromed argon or oxygen weldin bottle, that is the difference between nitrous and welding grade bottles, is a DOT approval.
damn!

thats just it, it doesnt have a certification stamp or engraving on it, so i dont know who would really fill it.
it is an accident waiting to happen, in reality its not meant to be transported in an automobile for racing use!!!
could potentially be a hazard
do they look nice...............yes

Re: (mrbsponge)
Maybe there just for show cars?
In which case might be a really popular product for the car show guys, cause buying real bottles just to paint and rice out would suck...
Either way, it shouldn't have a fill port on it, that's just asking for trouble...
EDIT: It says great for track use...

Re: (rainmanEK)
Those are the two old *** examples that spread all over the net. There are millions of other rotas out there that have been perfectly fine. OBX is no where near the quality of rota.

As long as they say not for road use. Remember the clear tail light phaze a few years ago? They did not have a DOT approval but people ran them anyways when they specifically said for off-road use only.

Wow. . . that's messed up.
Makes me wonder about their other products. . . most all of their products bare the same disclaimer.
also. . . I would think that they are putting themselves at risk by saying the following (which appears in the auction)
"You are bidding on a brand new chrome empty nitrous oxide bottle from OBX Racing Sports. It will still come with one sticker upon request. It does NOT have any components, just the nitrous bottle itself. Great for track use! Give your vehicle that extra boost to the finish line in style with a brand new OBX nitrous bottle. MSRP price is $249.99. Why pay MSRP when you can get it now for only $175.00!!"
The part that I would think would pose a legal threat would be, "Great for track use!"
Who's track? A go kart track? Certainly not drag strip of any kind. . . unless it's in your own back yard

I still don't think it is legal to sell a product that is by its very nature hazardous to the owner.
These things say for offroad/show use... But If I install it with 1000 PSI of nitrous, and the thing fractures in half and takes my arm off, I can still suit.
Why isn't it DOT approved? My $50 gas tanks for my MIG welder have the DOT stamp!

good point.
next question.. would this pass the tech officials at a good drag strip?

Re: (2point2)
i've never had anyone look at the bottle in my car or any of my friends. Granted my car is not fast but I've had several friends kicked of the track for various saftey items, and still nobody ever looked at thier bottles. Even polished and painted bottles that no longer had labels from NOS or NX. Of course that may change first time one of these causes a problem
