Default HKS Super Mega Flow filter vs regular KN ?

Im shopping for a new filter and I really like the fact the the HKS have a kind of velocity stack integrated in the design but im not sure if its filtering capacity is as good as a KN ?

In term of performance do you know if the HKS as an advantage over the KN or you just pay for the name of it ?

BTW the filter wont be directly installed on the turbo. I will have to make a piping to get the fresh air out of the engine bay on the driverside.

Thanks !

stick with the K&N...im sure we've all heard about the high HP cars sucking in the HKS foam filters and detroying turbo's.

There are also other filters that have built in velocity stacks. I think Injen has one, but I know Apexi has one. There was a test a while ago where the Apexi was the best all around except for price. KN was second and the HKS has bad filtration.

K&N makes filters similar to the apexi one. i found a bunch of them on their site, not sure on the pricing. not exactly the same concept but maybe worth looking into. they are called the X-Steam filter top. here's an example i took off their site...

I heard that the HKS foam filter lets in a lot of dirty particles compared to other filters.

I personally have never lost one to an HKS filter but a buddy of mine lost a GT42R on a supra to one running a bike. I will stick with K&N.

damn! it seems I need to change my filter, I am using the hks filter I love it, but since so many people destroyed turbos on them, maybe I shouldn't take the chance. I just bought a bigger turbo. so time for a new filter
