Default HKS SSQV Flutters (edit: with video of problem)

The bov been fluttering since I got it, I'm pretty sure this isn't the sound it is supposed to make. From what i've been told it's supposed to have a high pitched chirp. Any ideas as to why it's doing this? Here is a picture if it helps:

Could be because it's only 6psi. Why not use a real HKS flange instead of that ghetto rigged thing? -afraid of boost leaks-

Is that a knock off ssqv that could be why it flutters!

No it's a real ssqv. Could it be a compression surge?

if its loud flutter then most likely it is. maybe ur bov isnt even opening, check vacuum source and fix that flange

he is right. I had the HKS bov and when i first installed the turbo kit i ran the bov from the fpr. well all i could here was fluttering, so i put a vacuum T at the brake booster an ran it from there and it fixed the problem. Your not getting enough vacuum. btw i only ran 7psi and it sounds good.

Thanks guys I really appreciate this, I'll change the vacuum lines tomorrow and let you know how it goes. It seems that a lot of people have the same problem so if I get it to work then this is the easy fix.

Unscrew the bolt in the back almost all the way out.

The great design of the SSQV allows you to run a very very soft spring without it leaking.

even the fake ssqv sounds like the real one....His fluttering is probably just the bov needs adjustment and damn the flange is ghetto rig

There's generally an adjustment screw. Right now it's on soft.

Compressor surge is more of a chop than a flutter.

my ssqv fluttered until I ran a vac source direct from the intake mani without anything else T'd off of it. now it only flutters at partial throtle while barely boosting. the response of the ssqv sucks though, big time. I regret getting it. just because it's "HKS" doesn't mean it's any good.

switch your vac source to T off the brake booster.

i have an ssqv and it flutters at lower boost level like 6 psi. at 20 psi it sounds like a pissed off bird from hell, very loud chirp. i also know other with the same boost levels and the flutter is exactly the same at lower boost levels. the valve has 2 blow off levels. one for high boost, one for low. thats why its called "Super SEQUENTIAL Blowoff''.
im sure if you raise your boost levels a bit youll get the chirp from the higher stage level.

ummm yeah perhaps the line is pinched to the bov ive had that happen to me, it does flutter all the time check that before you make that asumption. I've owned an HKS bov for years and its always sounded good. Its just you thats all.

are you using the plastic check valve filter thing inline with the vac tube? you probably have that backwards.

The BOV is not opening or not opening far enough.

Try changing the vac source and unscrewing the adjustment bolt in the back.

I've been told to change it to the brake booster, I'm not 100% sure where that is. Can anyone find me a pic or tell me where it is? Also how easy is it to hook it up to it.

brake booster is that big black round thing that the master cylinder is mounted to, follow your hydraulic clutch lines to it or follow your brake lines to it. it will be directly opposite the firewall of your steering wheel usually.

Mine fluttered as well. Then I switched it to a dedicated port off my intake mani and now it doenst flutter at all, just the high pitched sound ( chimpmonk ) as my friends call it Isnt that right Jeff? That should take care of the problem... unless its your flange.

if the flange isnt leaking, then that shouldnt be a problem at all.
