Is a High priced EMS Necessary
Wussup guys...I want to boost my 4dr gsr but I want to keep the boost at bout 8-9 psi daily driven....Is it worth spending the $12-1300 for an aem ems...i want to do everything RIGHT (can't stress it enough) the first time....btw...i was looking at the Hondata b/c i've read positive things about them, but on their site it would cost me about $1400 for an s200b b/c the fact I have to convert to obd1 (it's a 2000)...
Yes... You don't need an EMS, but you have the potential to run far better and safer with one, that is if it is tuned properly. Save up and get a solid engine management system
I don't think hondata would cost THAT much.
Are you planning on tuning yourself? the EMS lets you do that without any additional software. ( I think)
Where the hondata you need to add some functions
so
Hondata user-tuned
s200b
data-loggin option
rom-editor option
rom-burner
rom-emulator
dyno time, or wideband o2
Hondata professionally tuned:
s100b
tuning time.
ks-motorsports has prices on hondata (cheaper than listed on hondata website
)
If you have the stock GSR intake manifold you need a chipped OBD1 P72 ($280ish) and a x-over harness $130ish.
Also it's important you know what the tuners in your area are familiar with.
