high mileage b18a1??
i have a high mileage motor. around 150,00 on the bottom end.
this is wats done to it
t3/t4 turbo
2 and 1/4 exhuast all the way back no cat
the heads completly built, titanium retainers, skunk 2 vave splrings, aftermarket valves, port polished.
plugs and wires
turbosmart external waste gate
bov
fmic
right now im only running four psi of boost on this setup because im afraid to run any higher. i wanna go to 8 but im not sure if the car would run right with stock injectors fuel pump etc. would it run ok if i ran 8psi on a high mileage motor? and would it even run right with stock injectors? also if any one could estimate my whp? with this setup that would be great. im some what a noob when it comes to turbo charged vehicles this is my first.

True story.
If the motor has good leakdown and comp #'s there is no reason you cant run 8 psi like it is a fresh motor. Just please get injectors and a tune.

Dsm's are like 20 bucks from a junkyard. By tuned I mean take it to a tuner and pay them to hook up a wideband and tune the car. It doesnt have to be on a dyno, but you have the idea.

Even if the number suck, boost it. Its going to die anyways, might as well have fun

True, I was just trying to get across that motors are dumb and dont have a sense of time.

lol so go 3inch asap? and everyone keeps telling me tune tune tune, well i just found out mty ecu already ahs the hondata s200 but i have no where around here to get it tuned? and someone told me b4 the new head alone i would be doing close to 230. also i got ahold of an msd boost retarder that retards ur timing at different levels of boost? i think? i heard this protects my engine from detonation? true or false?a nd is it worth what i paid?or is it something u dont really need?

3" is preferred but not necessary. better but with the lower boost level your runnin it will be ok with out. no you dont need the MSD if you tune, the tuner will tune in the retard per boost.
and yes the people tellin you to tune, tune, tune are correct.
give me the MSD for the boost evaluation fees i am incurring.

leave the exaust and get a dump of some sort....
If your daily driving it why the hell do you need all the power
get a dump and be done..
I dident read all the bull **** in this thread but
My Stock 150+k ls motor I am running dsm 450s and Daily drive it as my beater and it went 11.88@121
The key to making this motor last is RPM's keep them stock dont overshoot (and a tune but thats a givin)
to add to this What t3/t4 turbo do you have trim ect. this will be the biggest factor @ your hp vs psi

2 1/4" Exhaust is a HUGE restriction...why not upgrade? On the same boost level, you'll have less lag and make more power. Not to mention, he's not going to be making 400whp on 8psi...he's still going to fall short of 300whp which is well within the realm of safe on that engine

A.K.A a cutout
an open dp flows a hell of alot better then a 3" exaust

i dont relate "dump" with "cutout" first off...
Also, who wants to drive around w/ an open cutout all the time? I hated the sound of open downpipe on my car. The problem with the cutout method is that if you want to make power, your car has to be stupid loud to do it....i say do it the right way and get a full 3" exhaust

Why in the hell would you want to be driving around like an ******* all the time?
I have ran this **** for years... 3" exaust just doesent do it for me...the power gains from and open dp to a 3" its worth being loud
If your going to do it right 4" is the way to go..

I'm not saying you have to, but if you wanted to get the use out of it, you'd have to basically run open dp. I guess at this point, it is a matter of preference. Personally i hate open DP, but if you can deal with it or even like it, then i say go ahead. I suppose you would make more power and spend less money on a cutout, but that's just not for me...
