Icon2 High compression b20vtec?

What u guys think about me doing 11.5 compression stock sleeve turbo with a t25 turbocharger? Gonna be daily driver and I'm only going for 230-250 whp because it's stock b20 sleeves. The turbo is 8 psi internal. Do you guys think that's good to make my power goal?

B20vtec, 11.5 forged je pistons, eagle rods, stock gsr head etc. maybe on 93 octane?

You can hit that power goal on stock internals and stock compression np. But 11.5:1 isn't a problem for a good Tuner. The tune will be what makes or breaks it.

Oh and I'm sure about that turbo though.

Sounds good, u are or aren't sure about that turbo? The t25 claims 250-280hp max. I just want something fun to drive around. Motor is already built that's why I'm wondering if this setup will be fine

Got ya. Ya the bottom end will be fine. With a bigger turbo and good tune you can achieve more then your goal easily. Not familar with that turbo though. But you could always pick up a used t3/t4 for pretty cheap if you find put it won't meet your goals.

T25 turbos I believe are same as sr20 motors, I want the smaller turbo so it spools at lower rpm so u hear bov go off while casual drive lol like I said, just want something fun to drive, thanks for input

Garrett Turbo's can be tricky, a few years ago they changed up some of the names. like the gt2560r is now the gt28r. which when you think about it is wrong, but Garrett made the turbos and can call em whatever they feel like.

Now t25 only refers to the turbine. all t25 turbos have a 53mm turbine wheel all t28's come with a 53.90mm turbine wheel. smallest t25 is the gt2554 which supports up to 270hp, the biggest t28 turbo is the gt2876r which supports up to 480hp. in between the smallest and largest there are quite a few that will meet your power goal nicely. I personally would run no smaller than a gt2560r aka, "t28r" aka s15 sr20 turbo. here is the part number, google it 14411-91F00

Thanks, this just an idea I'm thinking of doing, but kinda pointless having vtec since smaller turbos will generally see power top off after 6000 rpm, but thanks for inputs!

well, look at a compressor map on garretts site and find your ideal turbo for your set up.

If your going boost, might as well read up and get all the real info you can.

If your going turbo, then most log manifolds start being restrictive after 6k rpms, I wouldnt spin the B20 too high w/o proper reinforcements. I can find you pistons and rods for under 500 shipped as i am doing a high comp non vtec build.

Pistons are 11.5 comp, that's y I'm wondering if I can do 8psi with t25 with that compression and be about 230-250whp

you wont need much boost with a high comp build. you can do a t25 or t28, but i think a .57 trim will really wake everything up. Your tune will need to be spot on accurate.

Prob do crome pro, other ems are good aswell but this will save me money, plus I don't need to do my own data logs or anything fancy so I'll have my reputable tuner tune on crome pro. Thanks for inputs. Anything else u guys think of let me know.

For something like that, I would look to neptune (not the rtp demon) or Hondata over crome. But thats just me. But if your only option is crome, then u gotta make sure your there for more then just an hour and get that map spot on.
Maybe a street tune after the rollers just to clean up anything while in real time.

I'll prob go e85 to be safe. Thinking of 16gtd05 turbo instead now. Do u guys think 280-290 whp is pushing it for stock b20 sleeves? I'll still be 11.5 compression

ive seen stock sleeves hold up to 450.. but its tuned for hours at every throttle position.

I just read where people in Malaysia cant get parts cuz of duties, this one race team is pushing 450-500 on oem B20 rods and rod bolts. With pics to prove it. They just take their time and do their homework.

a friend of mine has almost the same exact setup... i had to look at your location to make sure you werent him. i dont think you acctually need a turbo to hit close to those goals. his put down 195 untuned. he has since snapped his crank so its down for a rebuild. he is going turbo this time but ditching the high compression.

if i was you honestly with the compression i would prob just throw a 25 wet shot on it and you should be pretty close to your goals. it would be cheaper too.

Yeah I've already read up on b20 sleeves and I guess it really comes down to the tune. But I really want something fun to drive and fast on streets. I really like the bov purge lol but want it fast on the streets, so I think I'm going with the td05 and prob s300 for better fuel maps and a more stable tune on e85 aswell. Think my goal will be from 260-290 and I'll be happy!
