Default Helpp choosing tranny

I am trying to figure out which transmission i should get for my new project.. it is a lsvtec with 84mm bore and sleeves and forged rods and pistons. I plan on adding a turbo to the setup when i get the money...im shootin for 500hp with the setup...what do you guys think my best option would be for a tranny? i hear everyone says b18b with the longer gears. but i also hear ppl saying no matter if its F/I or N/A you should go for short gears. thanks other than the ls tranny i was gonna get a itr with lsd either way i will prolly have a lsd put in if it dont have it already. thanks

Your car will feel much quicker with the GSR or ITR/B16 tranny vs. the LS. I don't know how the crap about longer gears means you stay in boost longer with the LS will make you faster **** got started, but any way you cut the cake shorter gearing means quicker acceleration.

Depending on how high you are going to shift and what size of tires you're going to use the GSR or the ITR/B16 trans both are a good choice. I shift at 9700 and love my ITR trans, but some people with lower redlines feel it's too short for the street.

ITR has shorter gearing.

like stated above, things such as redline and tire size will play a big role in your gearing so take that into consideration also

i really dont want to go ANY higher than 9k since it is a lsvtec so im thinking GSR could be better for my app? and get a lsd for it

Yeah, get a GSR tranny, with the shorter gears on the ITR you'll be buzzing along on the highway at 4500 RPM in 5th gear. Plus the GSR tranny is easier to find.
