Default help with turbo sizing for LSVTEC...

well im in the market for a new turbo, my current turbo is taking a **** (60/63 T3, from a Thunderbird). so while its down i will be putting together my LSVTEC. B18A1 bottom end (stock PR4 pistons), B17A1 head and oil pump (ITR cams in the future), ARP headstuds and rod bolts, new MLS gasket... that should be about 9.5:1 compression...in my 88 HF

goals: 300whp....250tq....low 12s on street tires and full exhaust (3inch)

i have been reading lots of the old posts and the PTE SC34 is sounding like it may be the turbo for me? but i would like to hear what you guys think...

if you get the .48 housing you will start spooling just over 2800rpm. that's jsut aboce idle. and you'll haev a lot more low end power. for low boosting you need all the low end you can get. Later if you build the motor you coudl change to the .63 housing. But till then, i personally recommend the .48 stage3. I think for the street and low boost it's the best combo.

i had a setup before that made boost like that (DOHC ZC w/IHI) it was fun as hell! but had no top end to it. with that setup i never bonced off the rev limiter cuz i always wanted to shift before it even got there cuz it mading no more power...

i think that the .48 housing on the LSVTEC would be about the same. planning to rev it to 8200rpms (stock for B16/B17 right?) and even higher when i get ITR cams (8500?). im gonna want good pull till then.... but i guess i would like the peak power at like 7800-8000rpms...and i want a fatty torque curve across the whole powerband...

The SC34 will do just fine for your application and HP goals.

what about the torque?

any idea what the spool times will be for a full 10psi?

At that compression i would imagine you would see full boost about 4800-5000, i could be wrong, but thats my best guess.

Edit: forgot it was the sc34
