Help with timing maps on LS/VTEC turbo setup.
Hi, I'm new at this.
I just wanted a baseline on the timing more or less what it should be.
I have a CRX LS/Vtec setup with eagle rods/ wiseco low compression pistons/ 81 mm stock sleeves / 720 cc injectors / arp head studs / oem HG / turbonetis 60-1.
What should the timing be on idle and what should it be at full throttle 25 psi of boost. I will use the aem ems fuel and ignition.
I wanted to know more or less, just to compare to what my tuner is doing.
Any help??

base timing on a B-series is 16* the rest of your questions is relative to your set-up and what your tuner feels is confident.

I understand, but let's say I'm running 20 psi of boost. What should the timing be at full boost??

My GSR with 8.8CR and scat rods (the rest stock)
T3/T04e 57trim 63ar 10psi
780cc's,s300,
91 octane
I think I see 18* at Full throttle
16* base timing at idel

I don't have any experience with B series motors, but I generally tune between 15-20* on pump gas at 15-20psi. It depends on many factors such as compression ratio, turbo size, thermal efficiency of the intercooler, how prone the engine is to pinging, gas quality, etc. For a conservative baseline pump gas, I would start with 25-30* before boost and ramp it down to 20-23* at 10psi, ~17-18 at 15psi, 15 at 20+ psi. Then tune the AFRs, a bit on the rich side and add some timing to see how the engine reacts to it. On the dyno you can listen for knock(easier than on the street) and see how far you can go on timing, and you can also see how the extra timing affects the power. Also a lot of engines tend to be more prone to pinging in the mid range, as the car gets to full boost, and you can usually add more timing towards redline.

Re: Help with timing maps on LS/VTEC turbo setup. (DOHC_16v)
I am running 15* on 91oct @15psi and 19* on 112oct @ 20psi. I checked the plugs after each pull and thats where they looked good. Big horsepower V8 drag cars tune at the track by looking at the plugs. They can tell you ALOT!

quick question I just finished my turbo install on my ls/vtec and I need to time it on the cams, currently have the stock pr3 cams gsr head and it bogs every time I push the throttle about 20%

I have an obd2a ecu running with AEM FIC, so ill tell my friend that is coming over to 16*. Wired everything up right but it will lean out as soon as I give it 20% throttle any other ideas incase the 16* isn't gonna work?

I know it's an old forum, but just in case anyone else is searching... I'd check my fuel pressure in that situation... Looks like your injectors are wide open but no fuel is flowing through them.
