i am pulling off the old drag manifold and upgrading to a tubular manifold but i ran into a roadblock. i "sheared" (if that is the right terminology) nut off of one of the manifold studs. any suggestions on what to do?

i sprayed it down with wd40, let it sit for 30 minutes. all the other nuts came off with a little effort, but when i got to this one, the wrench wouldnt budge, and when it did, it spun around the nut and smoothed the corners/edges.

please lemme know, thanks in advance.

dunno if it helps, but this is the nut that is sheared, all the rest are already loosened.

hammer on a smaller 12pt socket and then hit it with an impact or air ratchet. Otherwise you may have to cut it off and put a new stud in its place. Good luck

you could always use the dremel, just be careful not to screw up the threads
I'd cut almost all the way through the use a chisel or something to split it

Seeing as how the nut is already done, try some vise grips.

i am at a friends house right now (i had to get away, i was getting so pissed)

anyways, thanks for the advice guys, i will give that a try when i get back home in a couple hours, hopefully it works out, i'll let you know how it goes.

A good investment is a set of craftsman stripped bolt taker outers. That’s not the exact name but it something along those lines. A little expensive but well worth the price.

that **** is too big to put over the area he's trying to get it in to. vise grip is gonna be your best friend there.

vice grips will work but if you end up worsening the situation, hammer on a 12mm socket and go from there. If that doesn't work, you can try a craftsman tool specifically designed to do what you're trying to do. If you don't wanna buy that, go to a hardware store and get a screw/bolt extractor kit and you can extract the entire stud (you'll have to buy a new one once you have the entire stud out).

I'd say the best bet is with hammering on a socket. PB blaster would help a lot too, it's better than wd40. You can buy it at walmart.

check this **** out!!!!

heat it up with a torch, get it red hot, then take a candle and melt it into the threads. keep pushing th candle into the threads, between the nut and stud.

then leave it for at least 10 minutes, if you dont leave it it wont work. after 10 minutes i bet you can unscrew it with a pair of damn needle nose. this trick was tought to me by a guy that works on boat motors, this trick works well on axle nuts, suspension nuts and any other shity nuts.

the vise grips worked like a charm, now i just need to find another nut. anyone know what size it is? also, for future reference, how would one go about removing/replacine on of the manifold studs? thanks.
