Default Help Overboosted!!!

Um so forgetting that my car doesn't have a working wastegate, i floored it and overboosted to around 17psi. As soon as it happened I was like "oh ****". I was only a mile from work when it happened so all i know now is that there is a loud ticking noise comming from my engine bay. My engine sounds the same as far as i can tell but with a loud ticking noise comming from the left of the engine. It is rpm dependent and it sounds like a click every second at idle. My question is what could it be? A bent rod? Cracked sleeve? fucked valve? Cracked ringland?

The car still makes boost because the bov was working after the incident. I didn't smell any burning **** either. ****, I am stupid.

This is on a D16y8 with the greddy kit.

A ticking that is rpm dependant sounds like a bent valve. It is definately not a knocking? Just ticking?

i don't know what rod knock sounds like, but its not like a vibration its just a click sound added to the normal engine noise.

I've got the same **** ... actually since I bought my motor.

I'd put money on a bent valve, but I'm not positive and will be taking out and rebuilding my motor hopefully starting this weekend to see what's really up.

When you hit that boost, did you immediatly redline the motor? I did once because the clutch slipped 100% and it just shot up to like 9000 RPMs

how much vacuum does your boost gauge read at idle? id do a compression or leakdown test to make sure.

im voting for a bent valve too... gl
