HELP is MY ACL bearings F***ed UP plastic-gauge remove???
Help Is my ACL bearing F**KED UP????
okay i measured my Eagle rods w/ACL StD bearings for like 3 times almost each. all came out okay but after the fourth like time when finally removing it. i used a mini rubber hammer while someone held the crankshaft while i tapped each side equally. the scratches looked worse.
i had to reasemble becase i had to check clearance when notching my engine. but i added lube lots of them.
I ended up removing it again and now it seems worse than before the number 1 cyl bearings.
it has like a small tiny scratches. the rod caps where f**KEN hard to remove but i tapped it soft until i got them out?
i can see the fricking scratches on the others but cyl one is worse.
idk WTF.... i already got like .001 across should i run this specs or get new bearings anyways. anyway if i use these bearings are these useable?
how the f***K do i not scratch the bearing after plastigauging when removing anyways....
the rod caps is hella hard to remove is these bearings reusable?
help need to know if these bearings are reusable will get some pics up soon. also when i got these new it seems to have some slight amount of scratches on them. looks like they are coated with some dark color stuff but i can see like the silver part scratched on them
.will these bearings get scratched like that anyways when breaking in etc???

Re: HELP is MY ACL bearings F***ed UP plastic-gauge remove???
.001 is within spec on an LS motor (from experience) that is tight...
now the plastiguage will usually leave a small reside on the bearing or journal... just clear off with finger nail... if you cant get it 100% no worries... now I just did my rebuild on ACL standard bearings as well (LS block all oem SPEC).
WITH ARP rod bolts you are to tighten to 26ft pounds... then open to measure spec... then lube and tighten to 26 pounds, then loosen, then tight to 26ft pounds again, then loosen, the third and final time tighten to 26ft pounds... you have to do it 3 times..... tighten then loosen then tighten then loosen then tighten... get it? this is what ARP requires...
Rod bearings are usually around .001 and are tighter than the main bearings... just for peace of mind, sounds like your clearances are nice and tight...
