Help me Spend $1k
I'm in the process of building another motor. I'm trying to decide between a equal length manifold and a port job on my head. My goal is 550whp.
Setup
b18c1
84.5mm bore
9:1 comp
springs & retainers
SS valves 1mm over intake
3 angle valve job
stock cams
Jg intake manifold
65mm tb
inline pro turbo mani
sc61 t3/4
What will help me reach my goal the most for 1k. Replacing the inline pro manifold with a equal length or headwork?
Thanks
Josh

Re: Help me Spend $1k (hybrid901)
even though i would be making your manifold, headwork gets my vote
you could sell your inlinepro, and use that money to buy one of my manis down the road a lil ways, or immediately...
my 2 cents...

I would always choose a bolt on power adder before something that requires u to take apart the motor. but josh, seriously, if u do get an equal length manifold dont go cheap, u will regret it in the long run.

Re: Help me Spend $1k (boosted hybrid)
I agree...I have seen very little benefit from porting the near perfect Honda head. I would save that until you have absolutely nothing else you can do to increase performance.

Definitely go with a quality manifold over the port job. Port jobs are not very effective when you're motor is forced induced. Air is being forced and rushed in atgreat quantities at such high speeds that the internal surface of the head does not matter. You will probably never notice the difference between a ported or unported headed under boost conditions. Honda has already optimized the air flow of its head. So no need to port it. Hope this helps.

The manifold will make more power than the head porting, if you get the right manifold.
