Rod Short is Precision's sales manager who contributes to this forum. He is very helpful to H-T folks. Where did you buy the turbo from? What is wrong with it? Did Art forget his magic touch on the compressor housing again? Art=busted. Every part must be touched.

Re: help me get precision email (hpfsi)
on the comp housing when i looked insise i noticed something hanging so i stuck my finger to see what it was and when the drilled and tapped it for the bolt they did not clean it out so a piece is just hanging there and am now worried that some might be in there.

Sorry 'bout the confusion lol... just undo the six bolts holding the compressor housing to the backplate and you can perhaps access the debris you are referring to. You might as well do it anyways (I found metal shavings inside my compressor housing too).

well i just ran to my room to chech it out and found that the piece hanging was gone and gave it a shake and it fell out.
really this is a common problem with there turbos ?
i think i am gonna open it up cause now i worried i've never seen this with turbonetics products.

The compressor housing is drilled and tapped while it being off then compresser air is used to blow the debree out. Its possible not all of it came out. Just take it the housing off and see if there is anything in the wheel.

Re: help me get precision email (LIBOR VR6)
I haven't heard any other complaints so I guess there isn't a problem; however if I had blown some metal shavings through my engine I'm sure I wouldn't be too happy, ya know? Even though you shouldn't have to worry about something that should have already been cleaned during assembly, it is wise to clean and fully inspect any part prior to installation. I would still buy PTE over T-netics but you would think they could take care of the metal shavings after all machining/tapping is done on the housing .

Re: help me get precision email (hpfsi)
If you suck aluminum up into the intake of your engine it is very possible it will burn the valve seats or otherwise cause poor sealing of the valves if you manage to get enough of it in there. Don't ask me how I know this . One small piece has little chance of doing damage but for something that cost as much as these turbos do I would expect more of them. I am a machinist by trade and this is just sloppy IMO. You will have chips and need to deburr etc through the machining/assembly process. When you get the final product in your hand it should be ready for the customer. Ready for the customer means clean ready to go. I would not build an engine and leave some aluminum chip inside would you? Same principle here. Just my opinion.
