help! d16z6 coolant plug.

Default help! d16z6 coolant plug.

Hey guys, need help.
Almost done with my z6 turbo build.
I have 1 more thing to do. Looking for advice on getting the freeze plug welded. How is it suppose to look ? Want to show the machine shop, thanks.
Please post pictures!

can you be more specific?
I assume you mean the freeze plug for draining coolant on the front of the block...why are you getting it welded? are you trying to attach some type of fitting to it?

Yes, the freeze plug in front of the block. We are going to be running 25+ pounds on this motor. From what ive read the freeze plug is a weak point.
This is a sleeved z6 on Q. Thanks

freeze plug holds coolant not boost, Never had one come out on any motor but I wasnt running that much boost. Never heard of it being a failure point or anyone welding it. loctite if your that worried about it would be my only sugestion

I think d series heads like to lift due to the shitty design and timing

Maybe im confused? the freeze plug im thinking of is no where near the head, its on the front of block

He needs to weld that plug, otherwise the short blok will crack around the plug above 550whp.

Something like that. I made that at work. I can try and find the dimensions. I made one that had more of a lip for someone else and it was harder to weld. I covered that spot in aluminum epoxy after the fact to ensure there wouldn't be any leaks
