funny, i posted the same question two weeks ago and all I got was bitched at for not using the SEARCH FUNCTION!!!

sorry, had to do it, thats almost all the responses I ever get.

Go with the 57 trim. Thats what I went with. 50 with a .48 a/r is going to choke in high rpms. (restriction of flow)

If you still want more opinions call the place where your going to buy turbo, most likely cheapturbo.com. Tell them your goal and they can reccommend what you need.

The T04E 50 trim flows 47lbs/min with a max effciency of 78%.
The T04E 57 trim flows 49lbs/min with a max effciency of 76%.

T04E 50 trim specs:
2.122" inducer/ 3.00" major

T04E 57 trim specs:
2.230" inducer/ 2.950" major

As you can see the 50 trim only flows 2lbs/min less than the 57 trim but at a better effciency. Also notice that the 50 trim has a larger major. You'll be happy with either turbo you go with.

Buy the 50 trim, it is a much more versitile wheel.

Whoever said to buy the 57 trim because the 50 trim with the .48 AR would choke at higher rpm's, is wrong. You can still get the 50 trim, and change the housing to an AR that suits you.

It's the fact that the 50 trim's major is larger that contributes to it's quicker spool up correct? I would think the larger outer diameter would speed up the air faster with less revolution.

Correct?...

thats a big turbo....and will not spool until after 4, my t3 60 trim doesnt spool until liek 3500....look at flwo maps and i bet you wont land anywhere close to teh effeciency range of one of them big guys....my 60 trim t3 doesnt get into teh effiecnency range until like 5 grand or so....but pulls and makes power to 8 grand...i would definetly talk to some proffesionals and sit and look at different flow maps...do the equations and see where you land on teh maps, thats what i did and i picked the t3 60 trim....with .48 exhaust, i have a d16 and made 205whp on 6psi with it....it works well

The .50 is definitely an odd ball in the T04E family..
It is actually a step down from the .60 trim since its wide 78% area of efficiency
supports more flow (displacement) than the next larger trim up (.54)
The .57 trim flows a bit more, but look how the .50's efficiency is compared to the peanut sized .57.

Its kinda hard to tell which one is best for you since you want 300hp.
Is it a d16a6? Peak torque on a d16a6 is @ 5.8k, right? and you want to rev to 7.2k.. If so, then I'd say the T04E .46 trim would make the most out of it since its built. The T04E .40 trim would work for stock with just cams.
