Default Headwork opinions

I'm running a p72 GSR head for my lsvtec (turbo later - see build in sig), but I want to know, should I do any head work to the head before I put this together N/A? I was thinking about replacing the guides and keepers just to be safe, and lapping the valves. Should I get a valve job or anything done? Obviously getting the work done would only benefit, but would it be necessary?

Lapping should be sufficiant, valve jobs are only needed when the seats aren't sealing. You can lap it yourself, I'm sure you know that, but I would have the machine shop replace the guides.

You think I should replace the guides and keepers then?

Yes, it would be worth it while the head is apart, instead of having to do it down the road. Or just have them measure the valve stem and guide bore to see if you need replacing in the first place. But it's good to anyway.

Sounds like a plan, when I go turbo later down the road I'll upgrade the springs and replace the valves. Thanks!

Yessir When you do upgrade the springs and valves, just to be sure, measure the guides to make sure the guide to valve clearance is still in spec. Good luck with everything!

If the machine shop does the guide install right, there shoulding be a problem.
