headgasket or what?
stock z6 on boost
im pusing a little coolant in the resivour, and my temp gauge goes up a bit
i do pulls in boost and sometimes it wont go up and sometimes it will
i have new oem thermostat, tried 3 rad. caps, coolant is bled out , all grounds are good and ive tried different sensors
comp is 175-180 all 1-4
havent done leakdown just yet, im almost thinking headgasket but its not blowing smoke and temp only goes up every once and a while

Head gasket, mine did that a few times before I got it fixed right. It leaked combustion chamber gases into the water jacket under boost, the hot gases going by the coolant temp sensor caused the temp gauge to spike, and they blew some coolant out of the reservoir. A new head gasket would last less than a month, but one of the Cometic HP gaskets lasted for 9 months, it's got a slightly thicker sealing ring around the tops of the cylinders. I eventually pulled the motor and got the block decked to finally fix it, but the HP gasket worked well for me in the interim.

i have a new oem gasket ready to go on, with a little copper spray</TD></TR></TABLE>
1. it could be that the radiator is just too small. or maybe getting "heat soaked" from your downpipe or something..
2. air bubbles....
3. and lastly the headgasket.

your probably getting headlift if your on stock head bolts. single cams tend to do that from what ive seen. it would be a good idea to spend $90 on some ARP headstuds and a new headgasket.

I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense. My motor was a B16 with ARP studs.

yea thats how my last setup was but the temp doesnt go up everytime i boost like it has before
another thing is my rad cap was loose so i squeezed the tabs a little and it doesnt seem to push much coolant but still gets warm sometimes
doing the headgasket isnt a problem, 1 hr worth of work i just dont want to replace it yet if not needed
