Headgasket problem?????? HELP ASAP!!!!
I went to the track last night and the car was running really really well! I got to a 12.4@121 with a 2.2 60ft (track prep was horrible). And on my 4th pass i did my burnout and it sounded a little weird in the butnout, but still felt good. So i launched and 1st gear was fine, spinning the tires like usual, 2nd started to sound a little flat and hit 3rd and it sounded like a damn subaru put it in 4th and coasted to a 12.9@114. So the guy i was racing told me it was blowing a ton of blue smoke. So today i did a compression test and got 180-90-100-180. In the process i found that a lifter on the exhaust side had come out. So my theory is that the lifter cam out some how and during the run wasnt letting out all the exhaust which popped the HG. Theres no water in the oil or vice versa and it never over heated. It just smokes a ton and is way down on power obivously. This is on a b20 BTW. What do you guys think? the head is off and the sleeves are fine and everything looks ok. I was running about 11psi when this happened.
the head gasket looks just fine. have you measured the thickness on the gasket from cylinders 2,3 compared to 1,4? but my money is on cracked ring lands.
hope you find the culpret.

see if there is any damage to the cylinder walls...
ringlands are a possibility.
If you rebuild, and you weren't using ARP studs, do so... you my have stretched that bolt...
But I would definately look at the pistons if you can afford new rings/hone/bearings.

Ya it turns out it wasnt a head gasket. I got it all back together, everything lookg pretty good as far as cylinder walls, head surface, block surface, etc. And it still only put down 90lbs of compression in #3so i guess it prolly killed the ringlands. But it doesnt smoke anymore. So the head gasket prolly did leak. So i guess it stime for a rebuild on it. I got a brand new GSR to put in and i guess this was what i was waiting for.
