Headgasket maybe?
well it seems that i am spraying coolant from somewhere wether it be the reservoir or radiator itself. I dont seem to be losing a extreem ammount of coolant but i am losing some nonetheless. Now i am trying to determine if the headgasket is at fault or should i be searching elsewhere. I took off the radiator cap and started the car, my idle is eratic so it revs up and down a little, but everytime it would rev up it would push the coolant a little higher...then a bubble eventually....so i decided to give it some throttle...and it would shoot out the top..now i just dont know if thats from the pressure of the coolant system or is that from the headgasket being blown i just dont know...it splashes maybe 1 ft out the top at most. thanks any info is usefull
The car is only overheating AFTER boost like i make a pull and slow down to speed then 1 min later the temp starts to climb....always goes to like 3/4 the way up the gauge...

If you rev it up and it sprays coolant it sounds like the coolant system is being pressurized and therefore it is the headgasket. Have you pulled the valve cover off to look if you have a milkshake going on?

Re: (nonvtecD)
ive looked in the oil filler hole and everything looks normal.
i mean if you rev it up the water pump is gonna push coolant around no? Thats how i would explain the splashing

well if coolant is spraying from the res tank then i would think headlifting. since you said you took the cap off and got coolant shooting out when reving it sounds like the hg. the water pump isnt going to make coolant shoot that high. plus the rad cap is what normally determines pressure in the system so when its not on there shouldnt be that much pressure. if you are getting excess pressure from a bag hg in the cooling system that is probably what is causing the coolant to shoot out.
def sounds like compression from the engine is getting in the cooling system. you could get the coolant tested for hydrocarbons to be sure before you start pulling the head off.
fluids dont always mix when the hg goes bad and your overheating problems do seem like a symptom. when my hg went bad i would only overheat after long highway drives, temps were perfectly normal anytime else. but make sure to check everything before go for the hg. start cheap and work fom there

Re: (dpetro1)
thats what im tryin to do.
where can you get that checked at?
it just doesnt seem like enough coolant is splashing out to be the headgasket...maybe im jsut in denial though

im thinking most radiator shops could do it. you might even be able to find a kit in the local auto parts store. i got my local performance shop to do it for me.
for blown headgaskets

well that looks like it will be on the agenda for tomorrow
If i could get my hands on some arp headstuds by saturday i wouldnt mind pulling the head so much...

Re: Headgasket maybe? (dornon13)
well i pulled a couple deg timing turns out it was on the high side...took a drive and made a few pulls and no overheating....so i figured it was lifting... so i turn it back down to 7 psi so i can just drive it till i get time to change the head gasket and get some ARPs, anyways today i drove back to my home town about an hour drive...i get 3/4ths the way there and it starts to barely over heat...? now im back to being confused. i wasnt even boosting this time.

so it looks like timing could have been causing the head to lift. even if it isnt lifting anymore the hg is probably toast.

this is exactly what was happening to me when my hg was bad. it only overheated after long drives, even without boost.

my car squirted coolant out from the reservoir tonight for the first time too! I was boosting around 17lbs, but i have arps already, and a GE sleeved block. No mixing of oil or coolant, and with the cap off the radiator, coolant does not overflow.

too much timing maybe?
