header wrap good or bad???
The most important run on the header is the first 3 inches comming off the head. This is where you want the most smooth transfer and to keep the heat energy the highest. All you need to do is wrap the fist few inches and it shouldnt make it crack. Although over a long period of time if the entire mani. was wrapped, it does increase the chances of it cracking.
it's good because hotter exhaust flows faster. which equates to quicker spool up. probably not noticible though. and i dont know about cracking, do you have a tubular manifold? or log style?
i just like it beacuse it keeps the temps down under the hood,i used alot of it on my downpipe,i can almost hold my downpipe after a run and not burn my hands.when i was N/A i had it on my comptech SS header, after i removed it it left scares from the wrap, couldnt sand them out,so it does do a little damage but not too bad.i just had my manifold jet coated and my downpipe wraped, and put the reflective heat stuff on my intercooler piping.
