Default Head lifted

Well my head lifted finally on my turbo D, and I just had a few questions before I went ahead and replaced the head gasket. I was going to go with ARP's but I wouldn't get them for over a week, so my question is can I just go ahead and replace the gasket, torque the bolts down, and next week, replace each head stud one and a time and torque them down....or would I just be asking for more trouble?? Also, I'm using a OEM gasket, how much does copper spray help, I've seen alot of people saying they used copper spray, just wondering how much it helps. Anyways, any info on the ARP question before this evening would be awesome so I can go ahead and get started on that so I have a car again tomorrow. Thanks

You cannot replace just 1 stud at a time. You must put the arp headstuds in first. Don't reuse those stock bolts.

sounds good, just thought i would ask before I went ahead and did something stupid. I guess the head gasket must wait until another day. Also, can you get copper spray at any auto zone or advanced auto parts places???

Make sure you get a good tune.

Major reason for headlifting is bad tuning (ie. timing).

yea you can get it at any autoparts store like napa or something. I just stopped using copper spray though because it doesn't seem to help all that much and its a pain in the *** to scrape off if you change the gasket again.

sounds good, no copper spray for me. Just thought I would get some peoples opinion on it. I'm getting some ARP's tomorrow hopefully so we will see how it goes. I'm tuning my greddy kit with DSM 450's and an SAFC. I have the timing slightly retarted, the exact degree I don't remember, and running fairly rich. I have had a few instances of boost spiking to 15psi over a period of time, I'm assuming that is where this is all coming from, because before that, running a solid 10psi I was doing just fine for months. Anyways, thanks for the input fellas.

Ditch the afc, and get some real management (Hondata, Uberdata, Neptune). You will continue to have problems with the afc, next time you might not be so lucky as just a head gasket.

I'd like to ditch the AFC, and I plan on doing so in the near future. What management can I use to keep OBDII??

so to be honset, how much would I be looking to spend to go uberdata?? Also, to sum everything up about it without trying to put everythign together in my head, I need an Uberdata Chipped p28, laptop, plug in harness, software......what else?? I'd love to go Uber ASAP if I knew everything about it right off the bat. Save me alot of trouble instead of the hack, which has been good for me so far. let me know what you think

if you want to stay obd2 (which none of the available applications will allow you to use the stock ecu, its all standalone) then go the ems route (yea, its pricey... gotta pay to play) the aem ems will plug right up and still use the stock harness and all sensors.

Yea, EMS, a friend of a friend has it on his GSX running around 600whp. Just plugs and plays right there on his passenger seat. If I had the extra 1400 laying around most definatly I'd be using it, but for the price and reliability, I'd like to go OBDI and go Uberdata.
