Default has anyone tried the new mahle piston in h22a without sleeving

another MAHLE technological breakthrough! This is the ONLY all forged, aluminum piston for the Honda H22 engine that does not first require sleeving the block.

That's right - The GoldSeries H22 features a revolutionary new and proprietary skirt coating that allows this piston to go straight from the box to the engine block without any problems. The gold shading to the skirt is proof that the GoldSeries can work with the H22's fiber reinforced matrix cylinder bores without any problems.

The GoldSeries H22 Piston Kit includes:
- 22mm High quality steel wrist pins
- Round wire locks
- Available in: Flat Top, High Comp Dome, or in supercharger, turbo, or nitrous ready Inverted Dome.
- Precision ring grooves for OE rings.

I fouond this on the mahle site and wondered how good it would be

Mahle pistons are oem suppliers for most of the European high end cars. They have done a lot in nextel cup engines. But price has never been their selling point.I would trust them if they said they work, and I am not all that trusting.

And I thought you were introducing the product yourself! I was so hyped! Only to find out you copy+paste from their site. LOL!

So, who's brave enough to test them out?

Im curious how strong the h22 sleeves are anyways to even justify the use of these things.

back when i was in my h22 crazed days, i remember some guys were slapping in weisco's and making em run fine on motor... I think when they would see some real heat/power via FI is when the cyl walls will create a problem. I think he logged over 1000 miles stock FRM or WTF coated sleaves with forged pistons. I jus assume go hard or go home. I went home, said screw h-series.

that's a good question. if the closed deck h22 and h23 sleeves are pretty stout this would be a great buy. no more sleeving. just buy pistons and rods and call it a day.

I agree. Pistons, crower rods in a h23 turbo 500 whp motor fairly cheap would kick *** IMO

not even the strongest sleeves can withstand detonation. it's all about the tuning

besides, the stock sleeves are strong enough, unless you want to make 500+ WHP...then, sleeving would be needed. there have been a couple of people making a tad bit over 500 WHP with stock sleeves...

not on an H22. hell, even with sleeves it's very very hard for H22's to make over 500hp safely. you are thinking of the B series blocks.

I just saw the Mahle ad for the Gold Series pistons in the March issue of Modified Magazine. There's a pretty sick car in the picture....

The piston may work but what rings are you planning to use? I believe they will have to be made out of a custom material also. Make sure they are giving you a custom ring set or that OEM rings will fit the piston. That is not a given.

the mahle pistons are made to use OEM rings.
