Default Hard parts to find for homegrown turbo?

Like a lot of you NA guys out there, in the back of my mind I keep the idea of getting a turbo one day. But I am a DIYer, so I would like to put the setup together myself. If I am looking for parts in junk yards and such, what woul dbe the hardest parts to find? I would be putting the turbo on my ZC. Turbo shouldn't be hard to find, intercooler might take a while to get, but where would the manifold come from? What other hard parts?

You will need BOV
manifold you can use a HF manifold or dx 88-89 and get an adapter plate or drill and make your own like studs. I have an intercooler if you wanna purchase...

BOV will be a 1st gen DSM talon 92 ish. they hold 25 psi

the manifold is offf a HF or STD civic no DX came with it.

for an inter cooler go to a semi truck wrecker and buy a huge *** intercooler and cut out what you need sell the rest on ebay and get tanks welded up for your core section.

You can make money buying an intercooler

Ditto!

I think the IC is the hardest part of the process. I am in the current situation my self, and I can not find a IC for my needs, fits, and price that is not ridiculous. Good luck on your home made kit, try not to pick out to big of a turbo if its going to be daily driven. Lag is not our friend!

If you get a starion, your best bet will be to have new end tanks welded on.

A couple of other things that will be useful to get are a FMU (100 off the net), some injectors (310's will be good unless youre going to build the motor and run more then around 12 psi), and a fuel pump. The fuel pump can be acquired from a junkyard (90'ish turbo supra) but Id just get a new one, since no fuel=bad

Af for the turbo, Ive been using a Probe GT turbo, but have went thru 3 of them... they seem to always be blowing the turbo's seals. A great turbo would be the stock turbo off a DSM. You can usually find these off of DSM boards for sale... since the DSM guys are usually upgrading.

Godd luck!

I have a Starion fmic im selling. Already has been modified for 2.25" piping rerouted to sides of the endtanks. Caps have been welded and pipes are JB welded in. Looking to get $225 shipped. I have over 10 hours in modifying it to work this way...also it's slightly polished but I can polish it to a high luster for the lucky buyer.
