Default H22a JDM on Boost??

Hey i have a 99 civic si and think i am going to do a H2B build in it... but i was thinking about boosting it. Its a JDM H22a Long Block and using a stock SI tranny w/ upgraded clutch and flywheel.

How does the H22 do on boost? (pretty sure it has Type S pistons??)
How many PSI can i run?

Does anyone make pistons for the h22 w/ out having to resleeve it?

thanks for the help!

H22 FTW!

7-8 psi sounds good on stock block

7 psi seems to be the golden number, it enough to notice a difference but the first thing to go is the ringlands. but there isn't really a "safe" amount on those stock blocks. Building the block is much safer. Good luck i've gone though 2 H blocks.

i ran 10 lbs on a beat *** H22A4 block (150,000+ miles) for a few thousand miles before the engine started to give up. on a fresh block with a good tune 10 lbs should be safe. mahle makes an FRM compatible piston. theres a huge thread about them on the prelude forum i believe.

Many people have boosted stock H motors near or over the 400whp mark, its totally do able, good gas, and perfect tuning is whats going to make or break it, saying a PSI number is vague, people run 18psi or more on stock blocks, If your going to boost a stock block i would try and get a USDM h22 due to the lower compression ratio.

PSI means nothing, life and limits of the engine will depend on size of the turbo and tuning.

The first halfway intelligent reply yet in this thread.

OP:
Whats the setup dude, or your wish list HP in my sig is off an H22. Built of course, but we made 400 WHP on a JDM H using an SC61. 15 PSI Lasted about a year BEATEN Like a stepchild... Would have lasted longer... THere arer people making MORE than that too.

PSI doesnt matter untill you put it into context with the LBs/min of air your snail is cabable of pushing ( or other measure of such)

The real key with those motors is timing as the higher comp. JDM motors are very succeptable to timing (read you dont want to ratlle the ringlands).

SOooo whats the proposed setup??? Youll POSSIBLY get a more educated answer than people pulling irrelevant numbers out of their asses as thus far .

Yo seem to have alot more research to do before ya start worrying about power... But Im alll for helping out a fellow Boat anchor lover...

421whp at 11 psi on a t4/t67 .82 ar......Its all in the tune and how health the motor is to start with....Keep the timing safe and it will last.Last but not least DO NOT USE A LOG MANIFOLD ON A STOCK MOTOR and try to make any power....BACKPRESSURE
