the general opinion is that the pistons are the weakest point, and you can't run a forged piston without sleeving. i don't know if anyone makes a stronger cast piston that could be used in the stock sleeves.

what sleeves are you guys using? Darton, aebs, jg? I am building now, (just blew my sh*t up!) The plan so far is: JE pistons w/ poly moly coated skirts and coated domes, eagle rods, ???-piston rings, skunk2 valves, stock springs, and retainers, bronze valve guides, hardened valve seats. Heard any bad things??

I am ordering my hondata, injectors and other things before I start ordering internals so I have time to do my research and get it done right! Let me know what you guys think and WHAT ARE YOU USING!???

I'm still in awe of that block! It just looks too GOOD to be put to use! I would leave mines in the living room as a coffee table or something.

BTW, how much did all that cost? I have a spare H23 that's begging for a big, boosted rebuild.

what did you pay for the sleeves? Installed. Mine are going to be more expensive because my block is closed deck stock (unlike 97+) and I am going to just go with iron closed deck sleeves. Yours looks REALLY good!!! I like the reinforcement along the wall of the cylinder

I would appreciate it if you would let me know what you have been paying for everything: sleeves, pistons, rods, machining, etc. Also how long did GE have your block, and did they assemble the bottom end?-Rods, pistons, bearings, etc. Like I said, if it is cool to let me know what you paid, I would appreciate it.

Wait, so there's a difference between resleeving open/closed decks? Can't they just bore out the old sleeves and drop in the new ones? Or how does that work? I've never really thought of that, because all resleeveed blocks I've seen were either B-series or the newer H22a4's. Anyone got pictures of a resleeved H22a1/H23a? I kinda like that open deck design, it'll be much better in cooling the motor.

as someone suggested, check out the group buy. the price will undoubtedly vary based on the particular work you want done. vince or ted over at GE will be more than happy to give you some quotes.

i did have them reassemble the bottom end, line bore the mains, some micropolishing on the crank... all in all they had the block for ±5 weeks.

i went with rollerwave pistons, and eagle rods. pistons, rings, rods, wrist pins were $895. a couple hundred bucks went to a new water pump, seals, cometic head gasket, head bolts, other gaskets, etc.

the parts aren't bad, it's the LABOR that killed me.

next time around i'll do more of it myself.
