h22 hondata issue
A local in Louisville just got his h22a turbo running and purchased an s200 system. he came to me asking for a base map, which i told him wouldn't be a problem. I went to the file new and grabed the h22a 7psi map, which pretty much matched his setup. Then went made sure that boost was retard 1 degree per PSI and created the chip, I also made sure it was setup for 440cc inj.
put chip in can and it wouldn't even think about idling, just immediately died. So i plugged in the romulator and started testing different IACV duties and idle speeds. the car hated the program.
on the spur of the moment i though, why not try my standard GSRturbobase map, threw it in and boom, the car instantly started up and ran like all the other honda's i've helped provide hondata maps for.
My question is, why won't it run off the h22 problem. I added a large amt of fuel to the map, since it wasn't calibrated for the larger engine and then retarded the timing down to 1 degree. He went around the block, came back and the plugs showed some detonation specs, so I dropped timing further to 1.2 degrees per psi of boost. the kid is only running 5psi off boost and I just can't understand why it could even be detonating at this low of timing. I know h-series love timing much more than B-series, so having the timing set at 26 degrees at 5psi seemed kind of low for a h22a. I know I run more than that in my b18c motor.
Thanks for any help. I have gotten the base prelude NA maps to work perfectly before, but this one stumped me.

Re: h22 hondata issue (seen4ever)
You should never boost on a car with an untested basemap. THey should always be tested on the dyno under controlled conditions to avoid engine damage.
Different cars run differently on similar maps.

Re: h22 hondata issue (flip1199)
P28 ecu,
spunkster, i know about not boosting on a base map, but the major point i'm getting at is the h22a turbo programs would not even allow the car to idle/drive. when replaced with a GSR map, the car idles/runs like a champ.
plus i do around 99.9% of my tuning on the street with a wideband on the car.
