Basically i look at it like this. Back in the day when people hooked up cars things were not near as complex...... It is not as easy to work on todays rides but if you are somewhat smart and can read - have access to tools, and a willing to learn while you work on your car then......... more power too ya and the fealing of blowing a vette's doors off is so sweet.

Keep with it, people used to learn by there mistakes. Now we have honda-tech.

well my saga started with buying corky bell's maximun boost back in oct 2001!!!!

after almost a year of researching and learning, I started buying parts back around march of 2002. Today i'm still about $4000 away from finishing. Funds are constantly being diverted towards other things which slows down my project. (2 kids and an impatient fiancee who likes to travel )
want to talk about patience? I'm part of a GB on manifolds that ended in Oct 2002 and I have yet to even see my merchandise (manifold, downpipe, dumptube).
My poor turbo was bought back in August of 2002. It just sits in my closet in my room. I won't let her sit in the garage. she deserves more repsect than that.

just hang in there man, if I can you can

Hey im a college student and I put together a homemade turbo on my 99 Si. Consists of a regular old *** T3, JC whitney IC piping, homemadeturbo.com intercooler, tial wastegate and maxrev manifold......i started collecting parts in Janurary when car was in storage, and right when spring came alone boom, i was on the road boosting. So much fun.

I went to the track and ran 14.2@100.66 MPH with 8.5psi. I'm going again tonite and gonna put in some racegas, retard timing, and bump it up to 10psi and shooting for 13s. Plus my highest trap was 101.76 so i think i can do it.

exactly.
I started buying parts about a year and a half ago and only 2 weeks ago did I finally install it. I had my doubts and wanted to drop it at times but its worth it in the end.

I appriciate everyone supporting me. I guess I'm not to bad off. I started in Beginning of May and I don't have that much to go. Maybe I can't complain because I started my swap in march got that done and now I'm turboing almost a 2 month later. M<aybe it was the vettte that just pissed me off. I'm just really ready for turbo. I'm just feed up with slow *** honda's, there not fast untill you dump **** loads of money in them....thanks for the support.

I guess a guy that's been here for a while has the right to go through a slump period where he gets feed up

boosting is worth the wait. I just beat a 450hp Porse 911 twin turbo last night on the freeway by like 6-8 cars. Just do it right the first time and do alot of research. Be paranoid when you get the kit in. I just worry about the littlest things. I don't know if it is a good thing or not but i guess it couldn't hurt to be extra careful. take good care of it and my best advice is to get a standalone and get it tuned. You shouldn't run into probs if you are a reponsable driver and everything. Boosted is alot of fun.

Depends how much you like booost. If you haven't driven one already, when you do, you would realize that EVERYTHING, all your efforts, $$$, time, IS WORTH IT!!

I have driven one I know how it is. I already know there's no substitute. I was just debating becuase of money issues. I have decide after reading everyone's post that I'll just be patient. Money will come. I just want it now like everyone else probably does. I'll have alot of friends pissed at me too!
