SC61 atleast has the GT series crap, 60-1 is just an older style turbo. Neither are good choices for the street AT ALL.

Any LS owner with a brain will know LS=all midrange. Get a T3 or a T28 or something of the sort so your powerband wont suck. Nothing better than driving in a LS with a t3/t4 and then the look on the face of that person when they get in a car with a similar setup but a 60 trim t3. 235-240wtq at 4000rpm tends to freak people out.</TD></TR></TABLE>

i'm not saying it will be MUCH better... but have you ever noticed the huge difference between a stage III wheel and a stage V wheel? the SC61 has a "GT series crap" compressor wheel... that's about it... the rest of the turbo is a regular T3/T04E like any other SC series. That said, the GT compressor wheel would only really relate to the efficiency of the compressor. I know what you mean though, but I still prefer a decent sized T3/T04E over a T28 or 60 trim T3. Civicflnum1 has had both a small T3 and a T3/T04E 60 trim on his turbo ls... and I've ridden in both setups. Yah the lil T3 is nice for a street car and all but I need more than that.

10psi at 4000rpm is too late for a LS. maybe you arent getting this, my peak torque on my LS is something like 4000rpm. You need a turbo that is MOST efficent during the midrange with a LS and neither of those turbos do the job. A LS wont make decent top end regardless without cams and head work so really people should be trying to use the LS's strengths and not its weakenesses. Believe me, a good T3 or T28 on a street car is WAY more fun on a LS vs these stupid hybrid turbos. I know honda-tech loves their big slugs, but getting full boost at 4000rpms, it not being efficent till 5000rpm, and getting 2000rpms of decent powerband is absolutely ridiculous.

As I've said before, I've ridden in an LS with a T3/T04E 60 trim... it was plenty fun to me. I've done the quick spool small turbo thing before AND the big turbo setup... I like the top end on bigger turbos better. Yes the LS doesn't flow well top end anyway, but it definitely flowing more up top with a bigger turbo. You can stick to your T3's and T28's if it's what you like. The only T28 I'd consider puting on the motor is a GT2871 but I'm not even sure If I want to spending the extra $$$ for that until I've actually driven in a car with an LS motor and that turbo. As I mentioned before, I think a GT32E would be a nice turbo that would spo kinda loot right now and I also have the option of going down to a .48 a/r turbine if needs be.

A T3/60-1 with a stage3 wheel will spool a solid 1000 RPM's quicker than an SC61 that comes with a stage 5 wheel. With a .48 A/R housing he'll have boost by around 4000 RPM's, which is plenty good for the street IMHO.</TD></TR></TABLE>

SC61 on the left, SC60 (T3/T04E 60-1 hifi, with a stage 3 turbine wheel) on the right

also you have to realize the difference in opinion of "good for the street." if you just wanna speed around town from light to light sure a small turbo is fun for that. but i open the car up the most on the highway.

the car will make power as long as it makes torque. using a larger exhaust turbine will bring the peak torque higher in the rpms, therefore making more power higher in the rev range. its all about preference
