Default GT4094r

Wanted to see if anyone is running the 4094r on their car yet, any comparisons to the 4088r?

Any input, dyno graphs, trap speeds, or anything of the sort would be really helpful.

TIA

There was another thread like this a few weeks back you may want to look and see if you can find it.

Hi, I think the best way to choose your turbo is to know what hp goal you have.

, just looking for options. I went ahead and picked up the 4094r, I've been pressed to find any first-hand experience with the turbo, seems that everyone is just going right to the 42r.

I'll share my results with everyone in the next few weeks

So what difference are you expecting between the 4094 and the 4294? Why did you choose the 4094?

As of right now, I'm still planning on driving the car on the street quite a bit.

I was going to go with the 4088r, but had an opprotunity to pick up the 4094r. I'm not looking for absolute maximum allowed horsepower in the SFWD class, just something I can enjoy on and off the track; which is why I was undecisive until now between the two. Right off the bat, I felt the 42r was way too big for my power goals, as well as would not fit well for the street-driven aspect.

I'm a little more confident with the "fun-factor" of the 4094r pertaining to the smaller wheel diameters. This will be going on a 2.0L B18C, and I will be using a Full-Race divided T4 Manifold.

The weel diameter is exactly the same, only the housing is smaller.

I pulled this from turbobygarrett. The Compressor wheel's exducer is the same size, but none of the other diameters match.

4094r
Compressor Inducer 67.8 Exducer 94.0 52 Trim
Turbine 77mm 78 Trim

4202r
Compressor Inducer 74.3 Exducer 102 53 Trim
Turbine 82mm 84 Trim

4294
Compressor Inducer 70.3 Exducer 94.0 56 Trim
Turbine 82mm

Edit, I apologize, I was referring to inducer and exducer diameters, not just exducer; in the post above.

not to mention the 4094r is almost 400 bucks cheaper than the 4294r.

So you feel the 4294 is "way too big". How much power are you shooting for, and how much faster do you think the 4094 will spool compared to the 4294?

I'm after mid-700 to the wheel, for the strip, and street at around 500.

I'm anticipating about 500 rpm difference in spool between the 42r, and at low boost maybe a bit more.

Additionally, it will give me some room to grow. I don't want to just get into a 800whp, I'd like to work my way up to it.

All input is appreicated here, if I'm wrong with anything just say so

I think you'll find that the spool difference between the two will hardly be noticable at all. They very similar turbos in reality, forgot about the fact that the housings are very different. If you want mid 700, i'd definitely go the 42. But hey, it's your call, just trying to make you see that you're not understanding how similar the spool will be if you think the 42r is "way too big", but the 4094 is right. I haven't tuned any of the 4094's, but i've tuned quite a few 4088's and 4294's. With the right engine/manifold combination, there's really not much spool difference between those two! I overlayed Art's dyno graph with another customers, GT35R on a B series, 84x87, ramhorn mani. Art's car is making more power at 5k with the 4294 than the other car with the 35r.

Tony, thank you for input. Can you post up that dyno?

Do you forsee any substantial differences in transient response between the two?

Yes, If you really care about it..
I have a 4294, (70ind and 94 exd) but with a gt40 compressor housing machined to fit the larger 4294 compressor weel.

(just bought a 4202 weel and housing so I probably wont be using the gt40 unit.lol )
