Default gt3582r problem!

ok well here is the story. I am building a gsr turbo setup for my 93 si. Right now thanks to the guys at laskey they are in the process of getting my motor built and the head has been done by alaniz for awhile now. Well i just got my turbo from a fellow h-t member and a good seller by the way(wont state his name scince he has been on good terms with me). So it's a full-race stage 3gt turbo kit with the GT3582r BB turbo. Me being as picky as i can be with my build decides to send the turbo to get balanced and inspected as well as disassemblly so i can send out the exhaust housing to get coating. While inspection of the turbo they notice a hole in the exhaust housing about the size of a finger nail on the side where the housing mounts up.The techs working on the turbo stated it was due to rust and distortion from water or whatever but the metal is brittle now. I have yet to see the turbo but got 1 pic of it and will get more on tuesday when i pick it up! I have a couple of problems now
1)Does precision give warrenty to their turbos?
2)Can i just get another exhaust housing and mount it on?
3)The techs said they could weld up the whole and are 80% sure it wont leak should this be an option?
3) what else can i do?
Basically i want this turbo to be problem free and any suggestions will be helpful.
also pics will be up soon! Thanks for all the help H-T

They sell just the turbine housings no problem, I believbe they are about $225-$250 though, I would have to check.

Now you mentioned in the post you have the Full Race Stage 3GT? Then you ask if Precision has a warranty? Full Race uses Garrett turbos not one from Precision UNLESS they bought one from Precision when the GT35Rs were on backorder. Who did you send the turbo back to to have looked at?

the turbo kit was sent to a reputable turbo rebuilder out here in riverside ca.

1) yes i do own a stage 3gt turbo kit by full-race!
2) i am about to speak with precision about warrenty!
3) on the exhaust housing precision turbo is stamped on it and on the backing plate of the compressor wheel it's also stamped with garret so i can't tell who it actually belongs to!

all the rebuilder did to the turbo was balanced the wheels and check for bad bearings scince this turbo kit was bought used!

Buy a new housing from ATP or Tial and upgrade to a Garrett GT housing with V-band and take your pick of A/Rs
