Which one would you fellas take and why? I'm very curious. I hear great things about all motors although i hear the Type R has a bad R/S ratio for turbo. And to clarify that's the Integra Type-R

kind of a broad question isnt it? are you talking about swapping a motor or the whole car or what? need to clarify a bit more

i'm talking about buying any one of the three. Sorry for not being so clear. Either way I would just like to know which motor H-T heads feel is a better choice for turbocharging applications. Hope that helps. Please give me some feedback.

My preference would be an ITR but i am not a huge RSX fan and i love the suspension on the ITR as well as other small features. dont forget an ITR is more than a motor especially if you plan on building it, than I would go with the ITR. This is all personal preference though. So if you like one more than the other why not just chose the one you like most?

i'd go with the itr as well if i had the money. but at the same time i would lower compression a bit.

I was thinking using a cosmetic head gasket and fine tune to 7-9psi. And run that safely until I can save money for a monster build up.

I love the Type S but would have to lean a bit more on the gsr or type r side simply because they have been force fed may times more than the type s.

Figure out the differences between the R and the GSR and see how many of the parts that make to type r better you will be replacing. ie...if you are going to do aftermarket coilovers and swaybars and bushing etc.. you would end up at the same point for less money with the GSR.

Around here gsrs are many thousands cheaper than Rs. That is what I would choose so i could boost it and put some coilovers on a lot sooner. No matter what car you get you'll have fun, they are all dope especialy with FI

Thanks for all the replies fellas. From what I've read I guess it comes down to str8 up preference. I'm leaning more towards GSR myself due to price reasons. That way I could go turbo a lot quicker with the money I'll save stil weighing my options though so I'll keep y'all updated until I take one off of the lot.

gsr will make the most power, RsX Type S is too high compression for good boost, and the type-r... too expensive for boost

For me, your question is a bit broad. Which motor is best for boosting? I'd probally take the GSR. Which car is better for boosting? Well, that's an odd question since you drive a car, not nessecarily boost it. The type-r out of the box is the best fwd car i've ever driven (and i've driven the 3 you've mentioned). I say you get behind the wheel of each of the 3 above cars and see what you like.

Type R all day long. If you can afford it then its the only one to consider. Dont listen to anyone saying you can "make a GSR into a Type R." People have no idea how many things Honda changed in the Type R, hell, most Type R owners have no Idea till you pull the car apart and compare everything first hand. It goes so far beyond just suspension and motor...

Thanks fellas I'm thinking of getting behind the wheel of each and finding out for myself to be honest. I believe the GSR will give me the most bang for the buck as well but I've also heard plenty of good things about the R and the Type S so it's a toss up.

Go with the K-series. Bottom end looks to be a lot stronger than the B-series. Fully bed-plated with integrated girdle/block skirt, similar to the SRT-4.

I personally would choose a gsr for boost but thats my opinion.

I would get a 90-91 prelude and fully build it. Then you will have a faster, better looking, and better handling car with a ton of money left over to do something else with.

but that's just what I would do..... or did...

unless you make bank, i say go with a gsr.. you'll be boostin' sooner and you can make your car handle at least as well as an R, and personally i dislike rsx's, i really havent seen any reliable boosted k-series..

I guess your kinda responding to my post. Please explain the hidden diffences to me.

Here are some of the thing that I know about-

engine (duh)
tranny (factory lsd, clutch?, flywheel)
suspension (who cares most people toss it)
brakes (a little better i think)
interior (better seats and wheel)
steering (faster rack ratio, that's a cool one)
exterior (almost nothing to do with performance)
body shell (it's pretty much the same right?)

um, what else really matters, especially for the many thousand dollar disparity in price? Especially if you are looking at performance only.

OH and the big one you pay over and over again...Insurance

I get what you are saying but i think my way is much more practical and lets you build a better car without throwing out expensive parts you already bought on the car ie. LSD, cool wing, suspension etc... to each his own....that is why light wweight cheap hatches are better IMO

Not wanting to offend you but maybe you've haven't come into contact with any reliable tuners of K-Series motors or I could be wrong. But once again I'm not trying to offend anybody.

I would personally go get a B18B1 motor for dirt cheap because it doesnt have VTEC replace all the internals and lower the compression a bit and boost away. I have had no reliability issues with my LS running 6-7psi, i have on the other hand heard some bad things about vtec and boost if it isnt tuned well

Sorry but any car is gonna run bad if it is tuned very poorly. B18c's love boost and they are proven time and time again. Many vary high hp boosted gsr's out there. Think of the choices, you can get a gsr in good shape for between 5k-10k less than a rsx and type r.
