GSR head on a B16A block?
I had someone give me this block and I would like to use it. I have a '98 GSR head laying around also and just wanted to build another motor. What I need to know is what parts will I have to use for this build as far as timing belt, water pump, oil pump,headstuds,HG,ect......?
Here is the list I came up with and please add on if there is something being left out:
B16 Oil & Water Pumps
B16 Timing Belt
B16 HG (with whatever bore I go with)
B16 Head studs?
Will I have to change cam gears to B16's because of the number of teeth?
Anything else that you can add that I left out, please do.
Thanks.

so you have built a motor before? I don't understand why your asking these questions if this is true...? or are you just confused about which parts to use because of the GSR head?
are you doing a full build or using stock internals?
if your doing a full build you may want to use aftermarket head studs rather then stock bolts.
dont forget rear main oil seal, cam oil seals, cam oil plug, all your O-rings, intake & exhaust gaskets, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and maybe check out what dowel pins to use for the head, I think they have adaptor dowel pins for b16/LS combo's but not sure about GSR...
good luck!

GSR and B16 cam gears are the same. You just put it together like its a b16. The only differences are the combustion chambers, which don't mean anything on assembly and the intake manifold, which if you buy a gasket kit for a b16, you will need to buy a GSR intake manifold gasket because the b16 won't fit.
actaully you should always buy gsr headstuds they fit the b16.. and basicly can be used on ALL b series...buying b16/LS studs is pointless...when you purchase the gsr it can be resold if needed to any1
