Default GSR + boost question (CR question)

first off...yes i did a search, and i'm a newbie to the way of the boost

anyway...i just finished putting a jdm GSR motor into my hatch (92 cx), and i want to piece together a turbo kit this summer. I'll probably be using a t3 turbo off of a tc t-bird, or a SVO mustang....and, i was wondering what would need to be done to run about 5-6 lbs of boost on my motor...i don't plan on running more than that (i can't really afford to ) i just want a little something more, and i want a fun project.

so i guess my question is should i get a thicker head gasket since my compression is 10.6:1? also how should i manage the fuel.....please keep in mind i'm a college kid on a budget, so i'm looking for the cheapest way i can safely boost my motor...thanks

10.6 is fine as long as you have a good tuner. But a thicker gasket would be good for extra safety

If you're only going to run 5-6 psi you'll be fine on stock internals. Just make sure you have good feul management and proper tuning and it should last quite a while.

yeah if you dont have the best fuel management a thicker headgasket will lower the risk of detonation alot. i ran 7 lbs. daily on stock internal for 2 years with a little tuning (not enough) then i started getting blowby on the rings so im gonna do it right. im in the middle of my rebuild now

i think i will go with a thicker head gasket just to be safe....i'm sure that as soon as i get the turbo on there i'll start saving for pistons so i can up the boost. How should i manage my fuel?

Hondata or AEM's EMS are two good solutions.
