Greddy Type-S BOV problem. . .
For some reason my Greddy type S BOV makes the fluttering sound instead of the PPPSSSTTT. I have tried adjusting it but it does not change. . .any ideas?
is it compressor surge? it is adjusted right? mine came fine out of the box and didn't have any probs. it is supposed to sound more like a lazy whistle.

The reason us with drag or rev-hard wont see it is beause we have a larger turbo. Now because you have a smaller turbo you have less air pushing on the valve of the BOV even at equal boost pressure.

I have an HKS BOV and hear the same kind of sound....To me it sounds like a dolphin with the psst sound hahaha...still sounds kind of cool though. I wouldnt worry about it though
dude dont worry about the fluttering. I tried mine at hard all the way and the damn thing just fluttered.. I just simply put it back imbetween hard and soft and it went back to the normal whistle sound... If it still flutters check your vaccuum line to where ever you tee'd it off etc..

The GReddy type S should have a distinctive whish and whislte sound, that under boost (hard shift) is pretty sharp and crisp....a "fluttering" or cha cha cha sound, etc, could indicate a problem with the blow-off valve, if all adjustments have been attempted with no resloution. That is also often an idication it is too hard...but you've tried that...
To get a final word call GReddy tech dept, their very helpful...its better to be safe than sorry on this one, compressor surge kills...
also, good suggestion on checking vacuum lines...

When in doubt go to the horses mouth...call GReddy Monday. You're almost always gonna get different opinions on stuff.
dont worry, be happy, it aint no big deal....hi perfomance = hi maintence, no problem...put up with the bullshit and get it done, and remember everytime you feel the boost (or just think about it) that its well worth it

Hello,
The sound you are hearing is not good. You are definitely experiencing compressor surge. Obviously, the BOV is not opening enough. With the Type-S, you need to disassemble it and remove the inner spring. Leave the outer spring in place. Then, adjust the valve towards soft. At this point, the valve will be open at idle. The BOV needs to begin opening at 10 inHg of vacuum. Your engine makes about 17 to 20 inHg of vacuum at idle. If you need anymore help e-mail me at hyperrevsports@yahoo.com
