I was looking at this .. done anyone know how easy it is to use? like one turn = 1 psi? Im thinking of getting something like this and dont going with the Profec B to save some bucks ... anyone have any info? Thanks
i'm using one and you're lucky coz you have a label there that indicates which way to turn to increase/decrease boost. i have to experiment with it before i found out that clockwise is decrease and counter-clockwise is increase.
i'm not sure if one turn=how many psi, but my internal wastegate is set at 9psi and at one point during my experimenting on which way to turn, i set it all the way counter-clockwise thinking it might be the fully open position(but actually increasing it all the way), and when i suddenly step on the gas til 1/2 throttle my boost gauge indicated 13psi and the car starts jerking(leaning out) and i have to shutdown so i don't know up to what psi increase if i do WOT.

well the boost increase is a bit different depending on what waste gate and turbo you use (i think). i do know that one click isn't much of an increase or decrease. if you are trying to increase the boost by like one pound, you are going to have to turn the think like 2 clicks (or maybe even 3). it is a very nice unit but an electronic controller will give you more consistent boost readings.
just buy that controller and build the budget multi stage boost controller.
it allows you to switch between different present boost levels.
total cost: $20 grainger pneumatic valve, $2 vacuum lines, $? manual boost controller, $10 switch and wires.

is the greddy mbc meant to be routed into the cabin or its just an under-the-hood item? i guess compared to alotta other mbc out there, it good b/c the clicking system lets you know exactly how much u turned it and keeps your increments equal, but then again its alot pricier than say a hallman or joe p. i'm running the hallman now with no problems or spikes and i've heard great things about the joe p as well. for ~50 shipped its a great quality product and works. profec b would be great but my budget just doesnt allow it and my moderate boost levels dont justify the price. i guess it might be worth the cash for the profec if you plan to ditch your greddy kit and upgrade cuz then at least you can reuse it and have a great setup.
if you ever wanna test out the hallman to see how it works just gimme a holla during vacations or at the next meet. i'll pull that sucker and let you take a spin around the block with it.
