Default Greddy Help/Questions

Sorry if this is asked a lot, but I did a few searches with no results.

OK, I'm deciding between a B16 swap and a greddy turbo on my d16z6, but that dilemma is a whole nother issue. What I would like to know is how safe will I be reliability wise running a greddy kit on my sohc as a daily.

I have almost 90k on the engine now. I will be replacing the water pump, clutch, and timing belt. I know I will need to do a compression and leak down test. I will just be running at the stock 5psi maybe later down the road upping that to 6. So depending on the maintenance I've mentioned and the leak down test, am I pretty much set? What am I looking at reliability wise, and what should I look out for? Can I keep my AC? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the help.

yes you can keep the AC,. yes it will be very reliable, and 90k isn't bad at all, i had 80k when i boosted my d16y8, and i belive VTC_boostless_Civic had 80k and took it off right after 100k or so. Get the turbo, and forget about the swap...you'll be much happier...ohh and i was on 12psi daily for about 4 months before the turbo came off (no problems)....it's addicating, i'm going for more boost and and a bigger turbo...hope this helps, GL and feel free to IM me anytime if you have ?'s

yeah, mileage really doesn't matter. granted, it'd be better if the engine had less miles on it, no? But it's all about how the car was driven during those 90000 miles. all city, hard driving = bad. city/highway, light driving with some hard sprints in there = fine. all highway at 65 mph = perfect So as long as the engine wasn't abused for the majority of those miles, just turbo the bitch.

yep, all the above... I just turboed my 95 EX, 65K, no problem... oh, by the way, my kit came set at 6.5 psi , just run Premium gas, and all should be good... just resist the urge to turn up the boost until you get the IC, then don't go too high, I'm not sure how high is too high...yet

yea turbo kit will give you more hp and torque than a b16. mine was set at 5.5psi. make sure that clutch is aftermarket though. my stock one started to slip 2 months after i got the turbo and my clutch had 14k miles on it.
