Default going from stock greddy DP to FULL 3".....input/help/info needed

OK so I ordered the flange already and have a welder, chop saw and plenty of 3" tubing.

my question is what kind of gains (in terms of either spool up or whp#s) to expect by going from the heavyass cast elbow with only a 1.75" outlet and then the 2" DP out to a 2.5" exhaust off the elbow up to a full 3" turbo back.

To save money and also because I think it looks much cooler I plan on using pie cuts instead of traditional mandrel bends. (time for myself is always free )

Also by doing this upgrade is there any potential problems I should be aware of? it is an internally gated turbo(for now......plan to upgrade that later)

car does not have AC or PS and it's basically a full greddy kit with upgraded baker oil lines

Really the only thing that could hold you back is the fact that the flapper door and opening of the Greddy turbo causes a bit of spike, and drops the amount of boost down after you initially increase it. For example, if you have a boost controller to set boost to 14psi, it will spike to 14 psi at first, then drop down to about 12psi or so as you continue to drive on

Yeah I was thinking about that, but it should be fine for a few months till I get a new mani and go external right? (turbo will be rebuilt/updgraded when new mani comes in)

Going external may help as long as you weld the flapper door shut completely, but please realize this turbo is good to about 640cfm, about 320whp or so at the most, at over 16-18psi of boost. Hopefully your management solution and Intake air temps don't suffer. Just an FYI

setup will be re-tuned on hondata s300 after new DP/exhaust.

yes when I get the turbo rebuilt everything from the internal gate will be removed/fixed as if it were never there

HP plans are only 200ish whp before built block then 250ish-300 after built block goes in....I don't need huge power just enough to have some fun in. it's a DD street car, and occasionally I'll do an autoX or HPDE with it after I fix/change some things on it.....not really into drag racing, but I may take it out to pomona or irwindale but that's pretty far away from me(LACR is gone now and was only like 30-45minutes)

currently is making 187whp and 192 ft/lbs @ 13psi.......retune after DP & exhaust will be @ a lower boost 8-10ish to reduce stress on the motor and get right around the same #s hopefully

later if I want more than the 250-300 I'll upgrade to a BB T28

motor is a d16z6 BTW

Oh wow, you're at a 15G, and not an 18G. The T28R is not worth the additional cost until you get the GT2860RS. I've done HPDE events for years with both D and B series turbo cars. The GT2860RS is a much better choice than that T28R for that displacement and torqueband for willow and irwindale.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that earlier. when I get the turbo rebuilt it will also be ported and recieve the upgraded 19T wheel to be able to have a better power potential but the same boost response. but once @ my power goals if I still want more I'll get a bigger & BB turbo

any other input/help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated
