Default greddy 18g on SOHC

ive been doing alot of searching but can seem to find the answers. a buddy offered to sell me his blown 18g for dirt cheap. id be using it to replace my 15g. i would also most likely be using the stock 18g elbow and dp with the greddy manifold to keep my a/c and to make it seems like im still running a stock greddy kit for smog reasons.

anyways, how would the spool time be? im worried that there will be alot of lag on a single cam. when would i hit full boost? say 12psi or so. mods would be the vitara/i-beams and 2.5inch catback.

for the price of the turbo and price of a rebuild, it would pretty much be a brand new 18g for under 300.

does the greddy 18g bolt up to the sohc manifold?

i ask this cause i have a greddy kit and will max out the turbo...so this would be a good upgrade pushing teh car further.

The TD05-18g will bolt up to the D16 manifold. We have done it on a Vitara D16Z6. We simply added a 1/4" thick head flange to space the manifold out farther so that the turbo would clear the block.

It is definitely laggier than the TD04-15G, but still not bad. Spool time on the dyno:
6psi @ 3500rpm
12psi @ 4100rpm
21psi @ 4600rpm

Due to the internal WG, with the boost cranked up using a Hallman Pro MBC, the car hits 21-22psi and then flutters around 18-20psi, holding ~18psi at redline. This is on 92 octane pump and is daily driven.

If I remember correctly it made ~275whp/265tq and ran a 12.8 @ 110mph on street tires in a loaded '95 EX coupe complete with power steering and A/C. 2650lbs w/driver.

On the setup mentioned above the car was using the stock cast elbow and stock < 2"i.d. downpipe with a Greddy Evo exhaust. If you run a better dp and exhaust setup spool time would be better.

cool thanks. great info. but i heared that with tthe spacer, you wont be able to use the a/c, and was told to shave the block a little to clear it for the a/c

Shave the block. It's tight as it is without a spacer.

I have this setup on my y7. 18g hanging off a stock greddy cast manifold running the 18g elbow and 2.5" open downpipe off of that.
My spool times are about the same as posted. .5bar by 3200ish and 12.5 psi by around 4200-4400 in 4th and 5th gear. Obviously with such a small displacement motor and a non ball bearing turbo spool times in first and second are later. And you can feel the time it takes to spool back up when you shift. (I'm running a pretty large IC too...)

True, with the spacer we still had to shave the block slightly, and we used a different elbow, not the Greddy one. We used a cast elbow from another T25 turbo kit that cleared the A/C.
