okay i got a turbo installed the other day. different peoiple tell me diffferent things and i dont know who to beleive anymore. im running a stock d16 from my 99 ek. barely have anymiles on it...about 30-40 thousand miles on the motor. i installed it the other day and people tell me i need an FMU but im running bleeders or watevers and im only gonna boost 5 lbs. not planning to go higher. do i really need an FMU? oh yes and there is light grey smoke coming out of the exhaust. its a used turbo and it has been sitting for about 2 months. what could it be? checked all the oil lines and stuff. everything seems good and im not losing oil.

 

Was it a turbo kit from greddy or something or someone just installed the turbo with a manifold and that was it??? More info please and are you sure the smoke is light grey or is is blackish or whiteish or blueish type of smoke.

Blackish= too much fuel (rich) Whitish= water of some sort like coolant or just your car warming up in the morning Blueish=burning oil and something got messed up real quick.

 

its greyish...i know for sure nothing got messed up real quick. its a custom KKK turbo with a greddy manifold. im not losing oil, coolant...or anything its coming from the turbo i know but what can it be??

 

what are you using for fuel management? you need something to add extra fuel under boost.

 

im running 5 lbs of boost so im running some bleeders or watevers for the vacum lines instead of the FMU.

 

omfg.....dude you need toe ither replace the injectors and get a different ecu or get an fmu. your injectors will have no way to add more fuel then lol
