Got my smc+ today
As the title says, I got my smc+ in the mail today. This thing is a baby . I was surprised as to how small it is. I can't wait to get my setup on the car. I got it from LakeEffectPerformance, they have a good price, but it took a while to get here. Apparently they shipped one out but the post office lost it. As soon I told them I hadn't recieved it they shipped another out and I got it a few days later. They get a for customer service.
Anybody know if I could just go ahead and wire it up now with the stock injectors and leave the correction at 0% on all the settings? That way when I get everything else ready it will already be on there.

yes that would work fine - i did the same thing to get ahead of the game. but make sure to program it to 0% BEFORE starting the motor, or you'll be leaner than an anorexic.

Re: Got my smc+ today (keebler65)
Cool, I figured it wouldn't hurt anything. Thanks for reminding me to reset before starting. I probably would have forgotten about that. Do you think I could even get away with putting in the 450s with out the turbo and going full lean. I think that it wouldn't take out enough even then though.

Re: Got my smc+ today (88ZCRX)
if you can trim the map 50 percent with the SMC then you can idle 450 dsm's
ie 50 percent of 450 is 240cc which is wha tyou have in there now... you can also try adjusting the base fuel pressure if you think your still running rich

Re: Got my smc+ today (JCushing)
That was my other thought. If I can't get them down enough with the smc then drop the pressure. But what is the minimum amount of pressure I could run the injectors on?

Re: Got my smc+ today (eg6turbo)
sorry... i didnt think the math out in my head... well then 450 - 46.65% = 240cc
is taking it down to the nearest hundreth percent acurate enough?
thank you for taking the time to point this grave mistake out to me

maybe....what motor is this on? the reason i ask is that i got away with it on my B16A with 450's. and i know that i wasnt maxing out the SMC either, because i was only having to trim like 35% or something like that. if its a D16 or something smaller, it may be another story. but even then i'm sure you could get away with it. i would recommend it too, because when you go FI, you will already be skilled in tuning with the SMC. its also kinda nice to get a jump start if you're bored like i was.

Re: Got my smc+ today (keebler65)
Well, me and my friend put the smc in today. I programmed it it to 0% correction on all the rpm scales. Started the car and then it idled roughly for a couple seconds and finally died. I am throwing a map code on the ecu also. We rechecked all the wiring and its fine. What could be wrong? This is on zc.

Re: Got my smc+ today (Rust)
Don't know. I would guess 240s. I don't see why that should change anything though. If the smc is set to 0% correction throughout the rpm range then it should be like its not even there. We just put the map wire back together so its not running through the smc and it fired up and ran like perfect. Does anybody think I might not get this problem if I put my 450s in and put the smc to -46% correction? It seems like the injectors need to be opening up more at idle and the smc is clamping them some even at 0%. But I am also clueless as to why my cel comes on with the map sensor code.

no dont put in the 450's until you get it working with stock injectors at 0%. does the green LED flash when it runs for a couple seconds? also you're sure that you programmed it to 0%? make sure the green wire is insulated from everything (not hooked up) since its on a honda.

Re: Got my smc+ today (keebler65)
Yes it flashes while the car is on. When I hit verify. It gives me 3 flashes. Each seperated by a second like it should for idle at 0%. I am correct in this, right?

Set the correction to -1% for all the ranges. For idle, the SMC+ should flash back:
1 flash....pause 1 second.....1 flash.....pause 1s.....2 flashes....pause 1s

1 flash....pause 1 second.....1 flash.....pause 1s.....2 flashes....pause 1s

Re: Got my smc+ today (zip)
I tried that and it seemed to not want to die, but it was idling well below 500 (on the verge of dieing. I still got the ecu code. I will try taking a little more out tomorrow and I will pull the plugs to see if it is a problem of too lean or rich, but I don't feel like messing with it anymore tonight. Do you have any other suggestions?

i dont see why not, but why not take a minute and try another ground just incase its a fluke? look on the bright side, at least you're running into these problems now and not later.

Re: Got my smc+ today (keebler65)
Well, my buddy checked the ground with a potentiometer (I think thats what its caled) and said it was a good ground. I will try grounding to something else to if nothing else works though.
