get it tuned by a good tuner, and pocket the rest of the money you would have spent on sleeves

tuning pwns sleeves. I dont care how built a motor is if its not tuned itll never make the power its potential holds and it wont last.

i thought the same thing.

what are your power goals?
unless you want over 600 and plan to beat on it, there is no NEED for sleeves imo.

good build + good tune = fast car

Elasticity of your engine sleeves is put the the test each time you bore it out the weaker it gets.

I dont know about some ppl but I plan to whoop the **** out of my engine each time I go out I have seperate cars for driving smooth.

thanks for the responses guys, right now they are just on stock rods, i wanted to check the round-ness of the block because the inner two clyenders were out of round. the machine shop took care of that tho and kept clearances in spec. i diden't sleeve because my HP goals are only 300whp. the motor will only be fired up for like 2 mins to check for leaks, and then it's being towed to the tuner for street tune then dyno tuned. so my goal is 300hp on the boost, however i'm trying to decide if i should run whatever amount of boost to get that 300hp, and then slap in these crower 403's for some extra power. i'm on the fence about that tho, reason being is that the head has been fully cleaned, 3 angle valve job, stock valves machined and buffed, head milled 20thou, cam gears, but it still has the stock valve springs and retainers.

i guess what i'm asking is if i put these 403's to use on my boost build with stock valve springs/retainers, am i running a big risk in terms of something bad happening? i'm keeping the stock 7K redline, and building the head up isn't really in my budget. it'd be nice to get perhaps 300-330whp tho. what do you guys think? TIA

If you going to get cams be smart and put springs and retainers in there.... I am sure the 403's say that you need springs and retainers
