Default Good EGT range

Just wondering, what is a safe exhaust temp to tune off of, when under full boost?

Just wondering, cause mine have been lookin kinda high lately.

ppl are usually around 1,300 to 1,500. Meines for some reason never sees past 1000... porlly cuase I put it in the downpipe but that should effect it that much. oh well.

There is a large difference in temps between a probe in the manifold and a probe in the downpipe.

Do you have a wideband? I wouldn't tune off of EGT alone!

I have heard that typical variation is around 500°F. I see as high as 1600°F on a long highway boost session with an air/fuel ratio of 12.0:1. That is a little high, but it's 'cause I'm not running enough ignition timing. (Oh, and it's an 8 valve VW motor, so not really anything useful for your purposes, but gives you an idea).

burning pistons at 1300 degrees F? no. Whoever told u that deserves a . 1450 is normal for cruising speeds. I also know a few people who see 1550 cruising .. ask that dude why they havent burned anything yet? boosting for a while now. no issues
